DescriptionThe whole story▼
Öhlins part number 01093-19 is a shock absorber spring rated at 70 N/mm, 150 mm long with a 57 mm inner diameter. A rear spring matched to rider and load keeps the chassis attitude where the factory intended it.
Key Features
- Öhlins part number 01093-19
- Measured spring rate 70 N/mm
- Free length 150 mm
- Inner diameter 57 mm
- 71 mm of usable stroke
- Straight-wound, constant rate
- Powder-coated yellow
How Öhlins Makes Them
The wire is progressively wound where the application calls for it and straight where it does not. Every Öhlins dealer can re-valve the unit, because the shim stack is a documented, serviceable assembly. Shafts are hardened and surface-treated so the seal has a consistent surface to run against.
The Numbers That Matter
Dimensionally this is a 57 mm × 150 mm spring; within that envelope Öhlins offers a range of rates, and this one is 70 N/mm.
Where This Rate Belongs
If the suspension bottoms out or the geometry collapses under load, this is the direction to go. Firm rates trade some small-bump comfort for support — the right trade on a good surface at speed. A firm rate holds the chassis attitude when the front or rear is loaded hard. Ride quality on the road is decided by rate first and damping second.
How a Rear Spring Works
A rear spring is the cheapest part of the suspension and the one that decides the most. Rear spring rates run in the tens or hundreds of N/mm because the spring sits at the short end of that lever, not at the wheel. A spring that has settled in service sits shorter than new, which quietly lowers the bike and steepens the steering.
Applications
Rate is the variable that depends on the rider, not on the machine. Two people on the same bike may well want two different numbers. Sag figures, not feel, decide whether a rate is right. Öhlins publishes the targets for its own units. Öhlins lists no fixed model here — the spring is defined by its measurements, and any fork with matching dimensions can take it.
Fitting
If the fork has not been serviced recently, bushes and seals are worth replacing while it is apart. Öhlins part numbers are stamped on the packaging rather than the spring, so keep the label with the setup notes. Torque the fork caps to the manufacturer's figure; the springs change nothing about the assembly torque.
Road Approval
Road approval: not applicable to the spring on its own. Öhlins issues approvals against complete suspension units, not individual springs.
Fitting and Setup Service
Fitting matters as much as the part. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and carry out installation, servicing and setup ourselves — get in touch and we will arrange it alongside your order.
