DescriptionThe whole story▼

Öhlins part number 60360-13 is a shock absorber spring rated at 15-24 N/mm, 200 mm long with a 46 mm inner diameter. Rear spring rate sets ride height, static sag and how much of the damper's stroke is actually usable.

Key Features

  • Inner diameter 46 mm
  • Progressively wound
  • Öhlins part number 60360-13
  • 120 mm of usable stroke
  • Powder-coated black
  • Measured spring rate 15-24 N/mm (progressive)
  • Free length 200 mm

How Öhlins Makes Them

Öhlins winds, heat-sets and then measures every spring individually — the rate on the label is the rate you get. The Öhlins part number is stamped on the unit, so its specification can be looked up years later. Öhlins publishes recommended sag figures for its springs, so the setup has a reference rather than a feel.

The Numbers That Matter

Free length 200 mm, inner diameter 46 mm, rate 15-24 N/mm — those three figures define the part completely.

What the Rear Spring Decides

Öhlins supplies most of its shocks without a spring precisely so the rate can be matched to the rider rather than averaged. On a linkage-equipped machine the wheel moves several millimetres for every millimetre the damper moves, and the spring rate has to account for that ratio. Rear spring rate sets ride height and static sag, and those two decide the chassis attitude before any damping click matters.

Applications

Sag figures, not feel, decide whether a rate is right. Öhlins publishes the targets for its own units. Ask us with the machine and rider weight and we will tell you which rate in this size to take. This is a service part in the proper sense — it wears, it settles, and replacing it restores what the suspension was designed to do.

Installation

The fork legs come off, the springs are swapped and the oil level is reset — half a day in most workshops. Öhlins states an air gap for this application, and that figure is part of the setting rather than a detail. Fitting is a fork-oil job: the legs come apart, the springs go in, the oil level is set to specification.

Road Approval

Road approval: none is issued for springs as such — they replace an existing component of the same function. Any model-specific approval is listed under Applications.

Fitting and Setup Service

Öhlins suspension rewards careful fitting. We recommend having the work done by an authorised Öhlins service centre — and we are one ourselves: we fit, service and set up Öhlins components in house. If you would like us to handle the installation, just ask and we will quote it with the order.
