Function
21666-01 is the 8 mm, 296 mm, 25 mm version — Öhlins lists each size separately. Play at the bushing shows up as a knock over sharp bumps. Both diameters and the length are specification rather than approximation. Öhlins uses PTFE-coated bushings for a low breakaway force.
Why the Original
Rebuilding to specification only works if the parts are to specification — that starts here. Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. Send us the model and serial number of your unit and we will confirm the position before you order. We can check the number against the Öhlins exploded view before you order — just ask.
Identifying the Right Part
Öhlins identifies this position by the number 21666-01 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. Check inner diameter 8 mm, outer diameter 296 mm, length 25 mm against what you have removed; a close size is not the same part. Play at the bushing shows up as a knock over sharp bumps. Guides and sleeves set the internal alignment of a cartridge.
Fitting and Setup Service
If you would rather not open the damper yourself, we can do it — we are an authorised Öhlins service centre and rebuild these units as a matter of routine.
