How to measure your helmet size correctly: To find the right helmet size, measure your head circumference with a flexible tape measure.
It is important that the tape measure runs around the widest part of the head – only then will you get a correct result.
Place the tape measure at the front, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows, and run it along the sides above the ears.
At the back, the tape must run over the largest part of the back of the head (not too low on the neck). The tape may run slightly at an angle – what matters is that it sits all the way around the largest points of the head.
Make sure the tape measure sits snugly but does not dig in. Measure 2–3 times for the most accurate result. You can then compare the measured value in centimetres (cm) with our size chart.
Tips for an accurate result
- Keep hair flat (e.g. do not measure over a voluminous hairstyle)
- Keep the tape horizontal, i.e. along the largest circumference
- Do not measure too loosely
- For values between two sizes:
→ usually choose the larger size (depending on helmet model / fit)
Important note on fit
The right helmet should fit firmly without causing uncomfortable pressure points.
A new helmet may feel a little tighter at first, as the inner lining adapts slightly over time.

White is the one colour on this page that does something measurable besides look good: at dusk, in rain and against a dark treeline, a white helmet is the part of a motorcycle a driver's eye finds first. On a flip-up the argument gets stronger, because the chin bar carries the shape a car mirror registers. This is the plain gloss version — no graphic, no contrast panel.
Where this helmet sits, and what the Advant X costs extra
This is the least expensive way into a genuine 180° flip-up with dual P/J approval that we sell. 299 euros buys the folding chin bar, both homologations, the drop-down sun visor and a Pinlock insert in the box. What it does not buy is a composite shell — and that is where the weight goes.
Read the two Advant rows against each other — that is the decision most buyers are making. The Advant X asks a hundred euros more and returns 150 grams. For commutes and weekend runs, this is the sensible purchase. For whole days in the saddle, weigh those grams carefully.

The chin bar that goes all the way round
The chin bar does not stop at the forehead. It carries on over the crown and comes to rest at the back of the head — 180°, which separates this from most flip-ups on sale. A chin bar parked upright on the front of a helmet is a sail: it catches air and drums. One lying flat behind your head is out of the airstream entirely — which makes the open position genuinely usable rather than a petrol-station party trick, and is why this helmet is also approved as a jet.
About the gloss white finish
Gloss white is the easiest of the three to live with and the hardest to keep looking new. The clear coat is smooth enough that dead insects lift with warm water and a soft cloth instead of needing to be soaked off, which matters more on a modular helmet than on a full-face — you handle the chin bar every time you stop, and fingerprints and fuel-pump grime land on it constantly. Gloss shrugs both off. What it does not hide is damage. Every swirl from a dry cloth and every scuff from setting the helmet down on a tank bag shows up as a bright line, because there is nothing in a white gloss surface for a scratch to disappear into. The upside is thermal and real: a white shell in summer sun stays noticeably cooler to the touch than a black one.
KPA, and two shells for seven sizes
KPA is LS2's name for the shell material: Kinetic Polymer Alloy, a blend of polycarbonate and engineering thermoplastics rather than a fibre composite. Plainly — a polymer shell is heavier than a fibre one of equal strength, and that is the honest explanation for the number on the scales below. What it does well is absorb a penetrating impact by deforming instead of shattering. Seven sizes, XS to 3XL, sit on two shells (XS–L / XL–3XL) — coarser than a premium full-face built on three separate tools, and normal for flip-ups, because the chin-bar pivots must be moulded into each shell size individually.
P and J: two approvals in one helmet
The label on the chin strap reads ECE 22.06 with both a P and a J, and that is not decoration. P means the helmet passed as a protective full-face, chin bar closed, chin impacts included. J means it also passed as a jet, with the bar stowed. Two separate certifications on one shell. Practically: riding with the bar rotated back is approved, not merely tolerated. A modular carrying only P is homologated closed — opening it on the move puts you outside its approval.
1750 grams on a flip-up
1750 grams, ±50, measured the industry way: mid-size shell, nothing fitted. It is the heaviest helmet in our LS2 range and we are not going to bury that. A head weighs around five kilos; this adds better than a third again, and every pothole multiplies the total through your neck. The cause is no mystery: a polymer shell, a rotating chin bar, and the reinforcement it needs to pass a chin impact. The first hour feels like any other helmet. The fifth does not.
What the ECE 22.06 plaque actually means
The ECE 22.06 plaque riveted to the strap is worth understanding rather than skimming. The standard it replaced struck the shell at five fixed points and measured only how hard the head was stopped. 22.06 strikes up to eighteen points, at more than one speed, and adds a test that did not exist before: a drop onto an angled anvil faced with abrasive paper, measuring how far the head is spun as well as how hard it is stopped. Rotation tears the bridging veins between brain and skull, and until 2021 no European standard measured it.
Two screens, the Pinlock in the box, and where the air goes
Two screens work at once. The outer visor is hardcoated, UV-stabilised and off without tools; behind it a tinted sun visor drops on a side slider under a gloved thumb — the Twin Visor System. What is already in the box matters: the Pinlock® 120 MaxVision™ XLT insert (DKS471) is supplied with the helmet. MaxVision runs the lens to the edges of the aperture instead of leaving a fogged border; XLT is Pinlock's higher light-transmission grade.
Air enters at two points and leaves at one. A chin intake feeds the back of the visor and clears fog directly; a crown intake feeds channels moulded into the multi-density EPS. A rear exhaust port draws it out, and a breath deflector sends exhaled air downwards.
Getting the helmet off a fallen rider
Two features exist for a day nobody plans for. The emergency release system lets a first responder withdraw the cheek padding sideways, so the helmet comes off an injured rider without rotating the neck — pull tabs at the base of the shell. Refit the padding after a wash so they hang clear. The strap uses a micrometric metal buckle on a reinforced chin strap: set once, then the same tension every ride.
On noise, and what this helmet does not do
Three things belong here rather than in a review you find later. It is not a light helmet — 1750 grams is the price of the mechanism and the polymer shell. It has not been tested by SHARP — the British programme lists thirty LS2 models and this is not among them; the four-star „Advant X“ entry on their site is a different, composite-shelled helmet, and we are not letting those stars drift onto this page. The intercom mount is not a milled slot: prepared for the current LS2 Bluetooth unit, but no factory recess.
On noise: nobody publishes a decibel figure for this helmet and we will not invent one. It comes from turbulence at the shell's base, air under the chin bar and open vents. The bar resting behind the head helps — one parked on the crown sits in clean air and drums. The rest is your motorcycle.
When something wears out
Nothing that wears out on this helmet is the shell. We stock the FF906 liner in every size XS to 3XL, six visors from clear to iridium gold, the chin curtain, top and rear vents, the complete chin bar, its ratchet and plates, and the Pinlock insert — all in the FF906 Advant Kit.
🔵 One warning that saves a return: the internal sun visor changed in September 2023. Helmets built before that date take part 800906SVI11; later ones take 806701SVI11 (tinted) or 806701SVI01 (clear). They are not interchangeable — check the production date inside the strap before you order.
