DescriptionThe whole story▼
By the time Ducati stretched the Superquadro to 1,285 cc, the Panigale 1299 had become a bike people bought specifically to ride hard. The ignition barrel it inherited did not change to match. JetPrime's JP KS DU005 removes that barrel and the key with it, and the same part number carries the 1199 R and the 1299 R, which share the mounting and the loom connector.
Key Features
- One part for the 1299, 1299 S, 1299 R and the 2015–2017 Panigale R
- Takes the ignition block, barrel and key out of the cockpit completely
- About 350 g saved, all of it above and ahead of the steering axis
- Ergal billet housing, anodised, with an IP69K-sealed push button
- Key Box included so the coded key stays wired to the immobiliser antenna
- No drilling and no splicing — the factory connector transfers across
Why the Panigale R Sits on This Part Number
The 2015–2017 Panigale R runs the 1,198 cc engine rather than the 1,285, which is why it is often listed apart from the 1299 family. Mechanically it shares the 1299's top yoke arrangement and ignition connector, so JetPrime lists it against the same switch. If you own an R and have been looking under the 1199 heading, this is the part.
Fitment and Compatibility
- Ducati Panigale 1299 (2015–2018)
- Ducati Panigale 1299 S (2015–2018)
- Ducati Panigale 1299 R (2015–2018)
- Ducati Panigale R (2015–2017)
Road Approval
None. The ignition lock is part of the motorcycle's type approval, and relocating the immobiliser interface into a separate housing takes the bike outside it. Closed-circuit and competition use only.
A Note on Finish
The housing is anodised black, which is the finish that disappears against a Ducati top yoke rather than announcing itself. Anodising is an integral surface layer rather than a coating, so it does not chip at the edges the way paint does when a tank bag or a knee catches the switch — relevant on a 1299, where the ignition area sits right where the rider moves across the bike.
