DescriptionThe whole story▼
With a 21-inch front wheel and longer suspension travel than the standard 790 Adventure, the R variant (2019-2026) is built for riders who spend more time off the tarmac than on it. The JP ACCGP KT016 shortens its throttle to a 60-degree sweep, suited to the precise metering technical trails demand.
Key Features
- KTM 790 Adventure R (2019–2026)
- GP Series ride-by-wire quick throttle with a sixty degree rotation angle
- Progressive return spring, preload adjustable externally in three positions
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075
- Plug-and-play on the motorcycle's own connector
- Standard throttle assembly refits at any time
Built for the Technical Line, Not the Easy One
The 790 Adventure R's extra suspension travel and larger front wheel exist to handle terrain the standard version would avoid, and that kind of riding rewards a throttle rotation short enough to let a rider adjust power delivery almost instantly rather than winding through a long sweep first.
Standing Over Rocks, Roots and Ruts
Technical off-road riding is done standing far more than seated, and the hand's relationship to the grip changes with that posture. A shorter rotation keeps throttle control consistent regardless of where the rider's weight is at that moment, which matters most exactly when the terrain gets difficult.
A Spring Tuned for Deliberate Inputs
The progressive return spring resists more as the throttle opens further, which suits technical trail riding where the last part of an opening often represents a deliberate decision rather than an accidental one. That resistance gives a physical cue a rider can feel through thick off-road gloves.
Preload for Trail Sections and Transfer Stages
Long-distance off-road routes typically alternate between demanding trail sections and easier transfer stages on gravel or tarmac roads, and the three external preload settings let a rider match spring resistance to whichever one is next without stopping for more than a moment.
Machined to Survive Being Dropped
A bike ridden this way falls over occasionally, and a component machined from solid Ergal 7075 handles that kind of impact better than a cast equivalent would. That durability matters more on the R variant than almost anywhere else in the KTM range.
Back to Factory Spec for Resale
Buyers of a used adventure bike built for serious off-road use often want to confirm the stock parts are still present or easily restored, and this throttle body unbolts and the original refits cleanly, finished with the standard ECU relearn of throttle position.
