DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 002 handles both halves of removing the Multistrada V2S's canister: the hardware that comes off and the purge valve circuit that has to be answered afterwards.
Key Features
- Ducati Multistrada V2S (2022–2024)
- Removes the charcoal canister, its valve and its hoses
- Vents the fuel tank through a proper fitting
- Answers the purge valve circuit
- Frees the space the canister occupied
- Standard parts refit at any time
A Hundred and Thirteen Horsepower
From the 937 cc Testastretta, unchanged from the standard V2. The S premium goes entirely into the suspension and the equipment.
Activated Carbon in a Vessel
It absorbs petrol vapour rising from a warm tank and holds it until the engine can draw it through the intake. That is the entire mechanism.
Photograph the Routing
Two minutes with a camera before anything is disturbed makes the eventual refit straightforward, because the hose paths cannot be reconstructed from memory.
Hoses Harden
After a decade the lines have gone stiff, the clips have corroded and the connections weep. Removing the group is as much housekeeping as modification.
Label the Hoses
Marking each line as it comes off turns a future refit from a puzzle into a straightforward reversal. Masking tape and a pen cost nothing.
A Small Job With a Long Explanation
The work takes an evening and the reasoning behind it takes rather longer to set out, which is a fair description of most emissions modifications.
Vapour Is Not Waste
The system exists to burn what would otherwise escape, which is a sensible idea. The objection is to the hardware rather than to the principle.
The Vent Is Not Optional
A fuel tank has to breathe. Take the canister out without providing a proper vent and the tank either pulls a vacuum and starves the engine or pressurises and pushes fuel out somewhere unhelpful. The kit provides a fitting for that reason, and it is the part of the job nobody should improvise.
Hoses Are Not All the Same
The lines between tank, canister and intake carry vapour rather than liquid fuel and are sized accordingly. Reusing one as a vent line because it happens to be the right length is the kind of shortcut that works until a hot day, and it is not worth the twenty minutes it saves.
