DescriptionThe whole story▼
Forged carbon, which Akrapovic describes as a material and process rarely seen in the motorcycle sector. Instead of laying woven sheets into a mould, short fibres are compressed under heat and pressure — the result is a marbled, directionless pattern rather than a chequerboard weave.
Key Features
- Handmade forged carbon fibre
- Replaces the standard aluminium heat shield
- The standard aluminium shield remains usable with the slip-on
- Designed to accompany the Slip-On Line (Titanium) for the Monster 937
- Covers the Monster 937 and the Monster 937 SP
- An optional extra, not a required part
Why Forged Rather Than Woven
Woven carbon has a direction: the sheet is strongest along the fibres and has to be cut and laid to follow a shape. Forged carbon has no direction at all, which lets it be pressed into forms a woven sheet would wrinkle around.
A heat shield is exactly such a shape — curved in two directions and full of mounting bosses. It is also why the surface looks like stone rather than like fabric, which on a Monster is either the point or a reason to choose something else.
You Can Keep the Original
Akrapovic notes that the standard aluminium shield can still be fitted alongside the slip-on. That is worth knowing: the exhaust does not require this part, and an owner can fit the silencer now and decide about the shield later.
It also means the original is worth keeping in a box rather than discarding, for the day the motorcycle is sold.
Two Versions of the Monster
Ducati sells the Monster 937 and the sharper SP with Öhlins suspension and Brembo Stylema brakes. Both take this shield across 2021 to 2025.
Where It Sits
Ducati routes the Monster's silencer under the right side of the tail, and the heat shield sits between it and the pillion's leg. It is visible from behind and from the side, and invisible from the saddle.
That is worth knowing before spending money on it: this is a part other people see more than you do.
Five Model Years
Ducati built the Monster 937 in this form from 2021 to 2025 before the 2026 revision. One shield covers the whole run, in both the standard and the SP specification.
Rarely Seen, and Why
Forged carbon is expensive to tool for and unforgiving of mistakes — the press either fills the mould correctly or the part is scrap. That is why Akrapovic describes the process as rarely seen in the motorcycle sector, and why a shield this size costs what it does.
Aluminium or Carbon
Ducati's original shield is aluminium and does the job perfectly well. Nothing about the slip-on requires replacing it, and an owner who prefers the plainer look can leave it where it is and spend the money elsewhere.
Marbled, Not Chequered
The visual difference is immediate. Woven carbon shows a regular chequerboard; forged carbon shows an irregular marbled pattern that is different on every part. No two of these shields look quite the same, which is either the appeal or the objection.
