DescriptionThe whole story▼
Sooner or later a Panigale 1199 R stops being a road bike. The plate comes off, the lights are taped over or removed, and the machine lives in a van between events. For that stage of its life Accossato offers AGPA106ZXC, the front carrier pressed in the ZXC ceramic racing material, which the company describes as a ceramic compound made for competition. The article covers the front of the 1199 R for 2013, 2014 and 2015, and arrives as the pair of pads one caliper needs.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Ducati Panigale 1199 R, 2013 to 2015
- AGPA106ZXC: the AGPA106 carrier in Accossato's ceramic racing material
- The manufacturer places the compound squarely in competition
- Suited to a bike kept for circuit use rather than for the road
- Two pads in the box, which covers one caliper
- The front wheel of this Panigale is braked from both sides
- ST, EV1 and EV2 are pressed onto the same carrier
- No German ABE in our files; competition part
Construction and Material Quality
Ceramic is the label, competition the intended use, and Accossato says little more than that about the material. It is the fourth option on a carrier that does not change between them, the AGPA106 plate, so the decision in front of a rider concerns the friction surface and never the fit. Accossato's works have stood near Turin since 1969, first in Moncalieri and today in Villastellone, and the racing end of the catalogue is where the company tends to put its name.
When the Number Plate Comes Off
A track-only Panigale 1199 R is a different animal from a registered one. Nobody rides it to the shops, the distance it covers is all at speed, and the parts that wear do so quickly and together. Brake pads are the clearest example: a set that would last a road rider several seasons can be used up over a handful of weekends, and the rider knows it because the machine is stripped and checked between events rather than left alone until something goes wrong.
Preparation therefore replaces maintenance. The wheels come out on a Tuesday evening, the pads are held against a fresh pair, the disc faces are looked over for grooves, and a set that will not survive a full weekend is swapped before the van is loaded rather than in a paddock on Sunday morning. When new pads go in, a few deliberate stops in the first session settle them before the Panigale 1199 R is asked to stop from the end of a straight.
Fitment and Compatibility
The listing runs the AGPA106 on the front of the Panigale 1199 R across 2013, 2014 and 2015. There is a caliper on either side, so one box is half a change. Accossato's rear pad for the bike is the AGPA42 over the same seasons and its disc for it is the DKS036. Other machines in the Panigale range are covered by their own entries and should not be ordered from this one.
Road Approval
We have no ABE and no German test documentation for this ceramic article. It is supplied for competition and closed-course riding, which matches where Accossato itself puts the material.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPA106 pads in the ZXC ceramic racing material, boxed as one caliper's set. A full front change on the 1199 R uses two boxes.
