DescriptionThe whole story▼
Summer storms arrive without much warning and turn a motorway into a river for half an hour. Lorries throw up a wall of spray, water builds in the ruts of the inside lane, and a Ducati Hypermotard 950 with its short screen and upright rider is not a comfortable place to be. Accossato's Sintered material for the rear wheel of that bike, article AGPA42ST on the AGPA42 plate, is listed for the 950 from 2019 to 2024 and described as keeping an even level of grip hot or cold and as gripping when the disc is wet.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the Ducati Hypermotard 950, model years 2019 to 2024
- AGPA42ST: Accossato's Sintered (ST) material on the AGPA42 plate
- Claimed to give the same grip cold or hot, and to work on a wet disc
- For riders who do not turn back when the weather changes
- Two pads in a box, the pair for the one rear caliper
- OR and ZXC are the other two faces on this plate
- The AGPA177 looks after the front wheel of the same Ducati
- No German ABE documented; supplied for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
This article number puts the sintered face on the familiar AGPA42 plate. Accossato's claim for the material deals with two variables that usually work against a rear brake at the same moment, temperature and water, and states that neither moves the grip level. A Hypermotard 950 in heavy rain puts that to the test at the back before it does at the front, because the rear wheel throws water up into its own caliper and the disc is never given a chance to dry.
Spray on the Motorway
Rain riding on a fast road is a question of position more than of technique. Sit out of the spray rather than directly behind a lorry, keep to the part of the lane that the traffic has wiped clear, and look far enough ahead to see standing water before the front wheel finds it. The rear brake earns its keep in small ways there: a light application settles the machine when a gust arrives from beside a bridge, and it helps hold a steady speed downhill without the fidgeting that comes from using the lever alone. Waterproof gloves that still let you feel the controls are worth more than any component on the Hypermotard 950 in these conditions, and a visor treatment that beads the rain is a close second.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA42 at the rear of the Hypermotard 950 through the 2019 to 2024 seasons. The wheel has one disc and one caliper, so a single box finishes the job. Front pads for the same years are the AGPA177, sold by the caliper, and the RVE variant has its own catalogue entry with matching references. For the front discs of this Ducati, Accossato offers the DKS053.
Road Approval
These pads reach us without a German ABE and without any other test document, so they are listed among the competition parts and are intended for the circuit.
Scope of Delivery
