DescriptionThe whole story▼

Some surfaces are treacherous in a way that has nothing to do with rain. A roundabout on an industrial estate collects diesel, the painted lines at a junction turn slick within seconds of a shower, and tram rails and manhole covers wait wherever a town has grown around them. On a Caponord 1200 Rally, whose rear wheel carries a good share of the weight when the bike is loaded, the rear brake wants to be predictable on all of them. Accossato's Sintered (ST) material in the AGPP91 pad addresses that, for Rally models of 2015 to 2019.

Key Features

  • Sintered (ST) rear pads, ordered as AGPP91ST
  • Aprilia Caponord 1200 Rally, 2015 to 2019, rear wheel
  • Consistent grip from cold and from hot, in Accossato's description
  • Keeps its bite when the surface and the disc are wet
  • One box, two pads, one rear caliper filled
  • Alternatives in the same shape: the OR and the STMX materials
  • Front of the same bike: two boxes of AGPA177 pads
  • No German ABE on record, offered for track and competition

Construction and Material Quality

Three materials share the AGPP91 outline and this is the middle one, the choice Accossato recommends to riders who go out whatever the forecast says. Its defining quality, according to the company, is that the amount of grip does not change with temperature: a pad taken from a cold garage and a pad that has been working for an hour deliver the same response, and a wet disc does not steal the bite. There is also less fade to contend with, because the material does not let itself get as hot. The box contains the two pads the rear caliper takes.

Greasy Roundabouts and Painted Lines

The rear brake is the one most likely to be caught out by a poor surface, partly because riders use it without thinking and partly because a rear wheel that slides gives very little warning first. Sensible habits help more than any component. Look through a roundabout before you enter it and pick a line that avoids the shiny arcs where cars have dripped oil; do your slowing before you turn rather than during it; and treat the first wet minutes after a dry spell as the most dangerous of the whole ride, since the water lifts a summer's worth of rubber and diesel off the tarmac. Predictable pads let you apply a small amount of pressure and get a small amount of retardation, which is exactly what those situations call for. Check the rear disc for oil now and then, especially after chain maintenance.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato assigns the AGPP91 to the rear of the ETV 1200 Caponord Rally for the years 2015 to 2019. A single caliper means a single box, and the pads inside it should go in as a pair even if only one looks worn. The same shape can be had in an organic version for gentler duty and in the off-road material for gravel work. At the front, the Rally of these years takes the AGPA177 pad in each of its two calipers.

Road Approval

We hold no German ABE for this pad and no other approval document, so we cannot present it as anything other than a competition part. That is the use we sell it for.

Scope of Delivery

One box of two Accossato AGPP91 rear pads in the Sintered (ST) material, a complete caliper set.
