DescriptionThe whole story▼
Sand punishes the left hand. A long straight of soft whoops on a 150SX asks for a light, constant touch on the clutch to hold the engine in its band, and after a few laps the forearm burns and the fingers begin to grab where they used to squeeze. That is the point at which a chipped tip or a lazy return stops being cosmetic and starts costing lap time. Accossato's answer is deliberately plain: the AGS14, a silver clutch lever in the standard shape, listed for the 150SX from 2016 to 2022.
Key Features
- Clutch lever in the standard shape for the KTM 150SX
- Accossato lists 2016 to 2022
- Silver
- Left of the handlebar, hydraulic clutch
- One of Accossato's original spare parts types
- Made, the manufacturer says, by a process that raises resistance after a knock
- A single lever
- No approval documents held; sold for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato says little about the AGS14, and this description stays inside what it says. The blade copies the form of the clutch lever fitted to the 150SX, which means the hand keeps its reference points and a repaired bike gives nothing away. The range was created so that a broken control costs what a broken control should cost, not what a performance part costs, and the maker adds that its production method leaves these levers better able to survive damage or a fall. The listed colour for this application is silver. No material, no weight and no dimensions are published, so none appear here.
A Long Sand Straight
Soft ground changes what the clutch is for. On hard-packed dirt the 150SX can be ridden on the throttle alone for whole sections; in sand the engine has to be kept spinning, and that means small, repeated movements of the left hand over minutes rather than seconds. Three things then matter about the lever, and none of them is visible in a photograph. It has to return the whole way on its own, so the plates are never left half engaged when the hand relaxes. It has to pivot without stiction, because a sticky lever makes the rider pull harder than necessary and the forearm pays for it within two laps. And the tip has to be intact, because in soft going the fingers slide outboard and a broken blade finds skin quickly. Riders who work in sand regularly tend to strip the pivot far more often than the handbook suggests, wash the grit out and grease it again, and they replace a blade that has been tidied up with a file rather than trusting it for another meeting. On a small two-stroke that is cheap insurance: the part costs less than a set of grips and an entry fee together.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato gives the AGS14 for the 150SX from 2016 to 2022 and also lists the AGS17 for 2009 to 2018, so the seasons in the middle carry two codes and the shape of the fitted lever settles it; a photograph from directly above will usually answer the question in a minute. The brake side is covered only by the AGD316. Elsewhere in our catalogue the AGS14 turns up for the Beta RR 390 4T, the Husqvarna TC 250 and the Husqvarna TE 300. Accossato's CNC levers for the 150SX are the B8283, the C7283 and the C7284.
Road Approval
We hold no test certificate for the AGS14 and no German ABE, because none was supplied, so the lever is offered for racing and competition.
