DescriptionThe whole story▼
Yamaha's MT-09 has gone through several facelifts since 2014 without ever changing the fundamentals of its triple-cylinder character, and Accossato's own fitment data reflects that continuity: one silver brake lever code covers the bike from its launch year all the way to 2020. Accossato lists the AGD221 for the MT-09 across 2014 to 2020, a silver front brake lever in the original form.
Key Features
- Front brake lever in the original form for the Yamaha MT-09
- Accossato's entry covers 2014 to 2020, ABS included
- Silver
- Right-hand side of the handlebar
- An original spare parts type, developed for good value for money
- Accossato states that its manufacturing process improves resistance after damage
- One lever per pack
- No German ABE, no test mark; listed for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Six model years under one code is a long run for any naked bike, and the AGD221 still carries the same pricing Accossato applies across its whole original spare parts range, the cost of a repair rather than an upgrade. Its outline reproduces the brake lever fitted to the MT-09 through this span, so an early example and a later one both keep the same control at the bar. A claim of better resistance after a fall is the one performance detail offered, without a figure or a material attached, and none is added here. Silver is the listed colour.
A Long Run With One Noisy Exception
Most of the MT-09's early life is covered by this single silver code, which makes ordering straightforward for the great majority of bikes from this generation, but a narrower black-finished alternative also exists for a short overlap in the middle of the run, which is worth knowing about before assuming silver by default. The practical check is the same one that applies whenever two finishes exist for the same bike: look at the lever currently fitted, or already removed, rather than relying on the registration year alone, since both colours were offered in at least some of the years this code covers. Once the correct finish is confirmed, the fitting job itself is unremarkable: clean the pivot, grease it lightly, and set the lever's angle to the rider's hand before the final tightening.
Fitment and Compatibility
This silver AGD221 runs from 2014 to 2020 on the MT-09, overlapped partway through by the black AGD287 for 2015 to 2017; the clutch side, the AGS01, covers a longer 2014-2023 span of its own. Away from the MT-09, the same silver code is also catalogued for the Yamaha MT-07 and the MT-10 SP. Accossato's CNC levers for this fitment are the EDF016 and ESV04A.
Road Approval
No approval documentation was supplied for the AGD221, so no German ABE and no test mark can be shown, and the lever is listed for racing and competition use.
