DescriptionThe whole story▼
Sitting in the roost of a faster rider is an education in what a motocross bike actually endures. Stones the size of a thumbnail arrive at the cockpit in a steady stream, most of them harmlessly, some of them not, and the controls collect the marks. Add the traffic of a club start and a 250SX will go through brake levers at a rate that surprises anyone coming from the road. Accossato lists the AGD316 for this machine from 2013 to 2022, a silver front brake lever in the original form.
Key Features
- Front brake lever in the original form for the KTM 250SX
- Accossato's entry covers 2013 to 2022
- Silver
- Right of the handlebar, front brake
- An original spare parts type rather than a tuning component
- Accossato states that the manufacturing process improves resistance after a fall
- One lever per pack
- No approval documents held; listed for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
The AGD316 is the plain answer to a part that gets used up. It reproduces the shape of the brake lever the 250SX is delivered with, so the fingers find their usual position and the bike returns to the specification it was designed around instead of collecting mixed components. Accossato describes the range as an original spare parts type developed to give good value, and reports that the production process behind the levers leaves them more resistant after damage or a collision. Silver is the listed colour for this fitment. The company publishes nothing about material or dimensions, and that gap is left open rather than filled.
Behind the Bike in Front
Two things damage a motocross lever, and only one of them is a crash. The first is the obvious one: a fall in a rut, a pile-up on the first lap, a machine that lands on its side after a bad take-off. The second is slower and less dramatic. Riding in someone else's roost for twenty minutes peppers the cockpit with grit, and the places where that grit settles are precisely the ones that matter: the pivot, the face where the blade acts on the piston, and the gap between the blade and the perch. Over a season this wears the pivot bore oval, and an oval bore gives the blade a small sideways wobble that a rider feels as vagueness at the top of the travel long before anything breaks. The maintenance answer is dull and effective. After a meeting, once the 250SX has been washed and dried, take the lever off, clean the bolt and the bore, look for wear, grease lightly and refit. Replace a blade whose tip has broken off rather than smoothing the end, because the fingers of a tiring rider find a shortened lever in the worst way, and never straighten a bent one. The part costs less than a rear tyre by a wide margin, and a rider who keeps a spare in the toolbox is never the one loading up early because of a lever.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato gives the AGD316 for the 250SX from 2013 to 2022 and pairs it with the AGS14 on the clutch side, listed from 2006 to 2022, so each half of the bar has a single code and there is nothing to puzzle over. The brake code is shared across a large group of machines and is catalogued with us for the Husqvarna FC 250, the Husqvarna TC 250 and the Husqvarna TE 125 as well. Riders who want a tuning part instead will find Accossato's CNC levers for the 250SX under B8283 and C7283.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no test mark can be shown for the AGD316, as Accossato provided no approval paperwork, and the lever is accordingly listed for racing and competition.
