DescriptionThe whole story▼
Most supermoto circuits keep a dirt section, and that short stretch of loose ground accounts for a fair share of the damage done over a race weekend. A rider arrives on tarmac rubber, the surface changes under the wheels, and the FS 450 goes down at a speed that hurts nothing except the bodywork and the controls. For the FS 450 of 2017, Accossato lists the AGD316, a silver front brake lever in the original shape.
Key Features
- Brake lever of the original type for the Husqvarna FS 450
- Accossato's entry covers the 2017 model year
- Silver
- Right-hand lever, front brake
- From Accossato's affordable original spare parts type range
- Accossato says the way it is made raises resistance after damage or a fall
- A single lever
- No approval documents available; listed for competition
Construction and Material Quality
The AGD316 follows the factory outline and asks to be judged on nothing else. In Accossato's catalogue that makes it an original spare parts type: a lever shaped like the one Husqvarna fitted to the FS 450, put on the market at a price suited to a part that gets broken. Accossato states that the process used to manufacture these levers gives them more resistance after damage or a collision. The colour is silver. Beyond that the company publishes nothing, and this description does not go further.
The Dirt Section on a Supermoto Track
The jump and the loose section are what make supermoto what it is, and they are also where the surprises happen. Grip changes twice in a few seconds, the bike is set up for tarmac, and a rider who gets the entry slightly wrong ends up sliding across the dirt with the machine following. Falls there are usually slow, and slow falls are the classic lever-benders: not enough force to damage anything structural, quite enough to twist a blade a little out of line. That is why a walk round the bike between races is worth the two minutes it costs. Look at both levers against the line of the handlebar, work each one through its travel, and check that the perches are still where you set them. Replace a bent lever rather than pulling it straight, because a supermoto braking zone is not the place to find out how much strength is left in it. Clean the pivot and its bore, grease them lightly, and squeeze the FS 450's front lever until the pressure point is firm before you go back out.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGD316 for the FS 450 of 2017 alone. For 2018 and 2019 the original-type brake lever is the AGD14, and for the other years of this model Accossato gives no brake lever, so the year is the first thing to check. The AGD316 appears in our catalogue for the FC 250, the FE 350 and the TE 125 as well, covering much of the Husqvarna range of that period. On the clutch side the FS 450 is served by the AGS14 and the AGS17, and Accossato's CNC lever for this machine is the EDD001.
Road Approval
No approval documentation for the AGD316 has been provided to us, which rules out both a German ABE and a test mark; the lever is sold for racing and competition.
