DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Accossato Ready To Brake 15x20 takes the same 15 mm piston used across the naked and motard range and pairs it with a longer, fixed 20 mm lever pivot distance, giving the shortest, most immediate lever stroke in the family at the cost of needing a firmer pull for the same braking force. Accossato does not recommend this pivot setting for everyday street use, positioning the 15x20 as the sharper, track-oriented option next to the 15x18. The shark-shaped body carries an integrated micro-switch for the brake light, and the long folding lever with relieving eyelet is offered in seven colours.

Key Features

  • 15 mm piston diameter, suggested for naked and motard bikes
  • Fixed 20 mm lever pivot distance, the shortest-stroke setting in the range, not recommended for street use
  • Folding lever, long version, with relieving eyelet (RST), seven colours available
  • Integrated micro-switch for the brake light, built into the shark-shaped body
  • Offset fixing riser with a quick-release jumper
  • CNC-machined aluminium, fully made in Italy
  • Stainless steel mounting screws and a zinc-plated bleed valve
  • Seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound material

Construction and Material Quality

Every Ready To Brake unit in this range shares the same build quality: CNC-machined aluminium, Italian assembly, stainless steel screws, a zinc-plated bleed valve and seals formed from Formula 1 compound to resist heat and fluid exposure over time. What sets the 20 mm pivot version apart mechanically is simply the geometry of the lever arm itself, which is fixed rather than adjustable; the offset fixing riser and its quick-release jumper, used for lifting the unit off the clamp during servicing, are carried over unchanged from the rest of the family. The passive stroke, the small gap between pulling the lever and the pads actually biting, remains reduced across the board, which is the core idea behind the Ready To Brake concept regardless of which pivot distance is fitted.

Why the 20 mm Pivot Distance Is Different

When Accossato lengthens the lever pivot distance from 18 to 20 mm, the geometry changes the relationship between hand force and braking power: pulling the lever the same distance now moves less fluid for a given amount of travel, which shortens the stroke and makes the initial bite feel more immediate, but applying the same braking power as the 18 mm version then needs more strength at the lever. That trade-off is why Accossato does not recommend the 20 mm setting for everyday street use and instead positions it for track and competition riding, where a rider already braking hard can use the extra leverage and wants the quickest possible response from the lever. The piston itself stays at 15 mm, the size suggested for naked and motard machines, so the overall character of the unit is still tuned for mid-size bikes rather than full sport machines.

Fitment and Compatibility

This master cylinder is not matched against a specific vehicle list, and our fitment records show no vehicles against this code; it is a universal 15 mm radial brake master cylinder intended for naked and motard bikes. Before fitting it, confirm that your handlebar clamp measures 22 mm, that the brake system on your motorcycle is built around a 15 mm piston, and that the calliper and disc combination already on the bike matches this piston size.

Road Approval

This master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for track and competition use.

Scope of Delivery

The package includes the Accossato Ready To Brake 15x20 radial brake master cylinder with the integrated micro-switch, fitted with a long folding lever and relieving eyelet (RST) in the colour selected, together with the mounting nut. Stainless steel mounting screws, the zinc-plated bleed valve and the Formula 1 compound seals are assembled on the unit. The fluid reservoir is not included and must be purchased separately.
