DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Yamaha R3 is often a rider's first sports bike: light, easy to manage and ridden to college, to work and on the first longer weekend trips. Accossato front pad AGPA243 in the Organic (OR) compound fits that picture well. Accossato lists it for the R3 from 2015 to 2026. OR aims at gentle, quiet stopping and long disc life, which suits a newer rider who does most of their riding in town and on familiar local roads.

Key Features

  • Front pad AGPA243 in the Organic (OR) compound
  • Accossato lists it for the Yamaha R3, 2015-2026
  • Accossato: longer performance with limited disc wear
  • Easy, progressive bite for newer riders
  • Responds well on short, cold trips
  • Two pads in the box, one set for one caliper
  • Other compounds of AGPA243: ST, EV1 and ZXC

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato's claim for the Organic compound is that it keeps working for a long time and treats the disc gently. On a bike like the R3, where running costs matter to many owners, a pad that does not eat through the disc is a sensible choice. Accossato also states, for all its pads, that they wear slowly, fade less thanks to limited heat build-up and brake strongly. These are the maker's descriptions, which we report without our own test figures.

Learning to Brake Well

A new rider on an R3 benefits from a front brake that is predictable rather than aggressive. A progressive feel at the lever makes it easier to practise smooth, controlled stops, whether in a car park exercise or at the lights. OR is designed for exactly that kind of everyday use, where the pads rarely get hot and need to work from the first squeeze. Quiet operation is a bonus when filtering through slow traffic. If the R3 later becomes a track-day toy, EV1 is the next step up.

Swapping Pads on the R3

When the old pads are worn, clean the caliper and the piston faces, push the pistons back gently and fit the new pair. Bed them in with a handful of steady stops from moderate speed, gradually increasing pressure. A dealer or experienced friend can help if this is your first brake job.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists AGPA243 for the YZF 321 R3 from 2015 to 2026. The R3 uses a single front disc and caliper, so one box covers the whole front brake. The matching rear pad in Accossato's list is AGPP254. Check the disc for scoring and the brake fluid for colour whenever you replace the front pads.

Road Approval

We have no ABE or test certificate for AGPA243OR. It is therefore listed for racing and competition purposes.

Scope of Delivery
