DescriptionThe whole story▼
Suzuki's DR-Z400S has stayed on sale for most of its life with hardly any change, which is one reason it still turns up on green lanes, fire roads and the odd supermoto track years after its first delivery. For the DR-Z400S built from 2000 to 2015, Accossato offers the KEP05, a crankcase plug finished in gold.
Key Features
- Crankcase plug for the Suzuki DR-Z400S, 2000 to 2015
- Accossato code KEP05
- Finished in gold
- Replaces the corresponding original plug on the engine case
- Fit to be confirmed against Accossato's application list
- No German ABE on file; built for off-road and competition riding
Construction and Material Quality
The KEP05 does the same job as the original plug it replaces, closing off the corresponding opening on the DR-Z400S engine case, and Accossato finishes it in gold rather than leaving it to blend into the rest of the crankcase. That single detail is the whole appeal: a small, visible spot of colour on an engine that otherwise stays whatever shade Suzuki painted it, picked out without opening anything up or changing how the engine runs.
A Small Detail on a Bike That Rarely Changes
The DR-Z400S has carried on with only minor updates since it first appeared, so a huge number of these bikes on the trail or at the local enduro club look almost identical from a distance. Swapping a plain engine plug for the gold KEP05 is a cheap, quick way to make one particular DR-Z400S easier to pick out in a row of bikes at the trailhead, or to match a plug to graphics, a seat cover or anything else already changed on the bike. It is the kind of detail an owner notices every time they wash the bike, long after the bigger modifications have stopped catching the eye.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list names the DR-Z400S built between 2000 and 2015 for the KEP05, and our listing follows that range exactly. Compare your own DR-Z400S against the application list before ordering, since Accossato advises checking fitment for every part in this range rather than assuming a plug from one model year carries straight over to another.
Road Approval
No test report or approval such as a German ABE is on file for the KEP05, so we offer it for off-road and competition use on the DR-Z400S rather than for the public road.
