DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Yamaha R1M has been built since 2015 for a narrow and well-informed audience: riders who use a circuit often enough to care about what the machine is doing underneath them. Accossato lists it to 2025 and offers the FC124, a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from aluminium with the pawl available in six colours. On a bike of this kind the small equipment decisions are usually made for practical reasons, because the owner has already thought about the large ones.

Key Features

  • Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Yamaha R1M, 2015 to 2025
  • Aluminium, machined from solid on CNC equipment
  • Quick-closing pawl instead of a conventional fitting
  • Six colours for the pin: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
  • Pawl available on its own as a spare
  • New design by Accossato of Villastellone
  • Check the application list before ordering
  • No German ABE documented; track use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato works from Villastellone near Turin and machines this cap entirely from aluminium on CNC equipment, describing the result as robust and durable with a new design. Its quick-closing pawl takes the place of a fitting that has to be turned into position, which is what makes the R1M's tank quick to open and quick to shut again. The pin inside the pawl provides the colour and is chosen from six when ordering. If it is damaged, Accossato supplies that pawl on its own rather than expecting the whole cap to be replaced.

Riders Who Record Everything

Some owners arrive at a circuit with a notebook, some with a laptop, and a few with both. They log tyre pressures, suspension changes, sector times and the weather, and after a season they can tell you exactly which alteration made a difference and which one only felt as though it did. The unglamorous entries in those records tend to be the useful ones: how long a set of tyres lasted, what the day cost, and when the machine had to be refuelled. Whatever else is written down, the fuel stop is a fixed point in every session plan, and shortening it is one of the few improvements that costs nothing in lap time and does not need to be tested.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's entry for the YZF 1000 R1M runs from 2015 to 2025, which this listing covers. The standard R1 has an entry of its own for the same cap. At Inter-Pace the FC124 is also catalogued for the MT-10 SP, the MT-09 SP and the FJR1300. Compare your machine with the application list before you order.

Road Approval

Accossato documents neither a German ABE nor a parts certificate for the FC124, so it is sold for closed courses. Where an R1M is ridden on public roads, the original cap, normally opened with the ignition key, is the one to use.

Scope of Delivery

One Accossato FC124 fuel tank cap with the pawl in the colour you order. The pawl is also sold separately as a spare.
