DescriptionThe whole story▼
For 2015 Ducati gave the Panigale a bigger heart: the 1299 Panigale used an enlarged version of the Superquadro twin, and with it came a clear step in pulling power out of slow corners. Days on track with such a bike are ridden in one-piece leathers and gloves, and those are exactly the things that should stay clear of fuel. Accossato lists the FC135 for the 1299 Panigale from 2015 to 2018, a tank cap with a quick release, machined completely from aluminium on CNC equipment and fitted with a quick-closing pawl whose pin you choose from six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Ducati Panigale 1299, 2015 to 2018
- Aluminium throughout, CNC-machined
- Quick-closing pawl for quick access to the filler
- Six pin colours: gold, silver, red, black, green, blue
- Pawl sold separately as a replacement part
- New design from Accossato
- Check the application list before ordering
- No German ABE documented; circuit use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines this cap from aluminium on CNC equipment, all of it, and calls it robust and durable; the shape is a new design. The quick-closing pawl is the part your fingers work with: it releases the cap quickly and secures it again just as fast. That pawl also carries the pin, offered in six colours, and Accossato sells the pawl as a separate part in case it gets damaged, which keeps a bent pawl from turning into the cost of a complete cap for the 1299 Panigale.
Leathers, Gloves and Fuel
Petrol and riding gear do not mix well. Fuel soaks into leather, leaves stains and a smell that lingers for days, and a glove damp with fuel is the last thing you want near a hot engine. So the routine at the fuel can starts with taking the gloves off and putting them somewhere clean, inside the helmet or on a chair, never on the tank or on the tyre warmers. Keep the sleeves of the suit clear of the funnel as well. With the 1299 Panigale switched off and upright on its stands, open the pawl, pour steadily, close the cap and wipe the neck with a cloth kept for that job alone. Then clean your hands before the gloves go back on, because traces of fuel on the fingers end up on the grips and levers, and petrol does the rubber no good. It adds a minute to every stop, and it keeps the leathers smelling of leather rather than of the fuel station.
Fitment and Compatibility
The FC135 appears on Accossato's list for the 1299 Panigale with ABS from 2015 to 2017 and for a Final Edition in 2018. For the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition of 2018 the same list also names the FC105, so if your bike is a Final Edition, ask us before ordering. The FC135 is also listed with us for the 1299 Panigale S, the 959 Panigale and the XDiavel. Swap caps with the engine cold, make sure the seal seats cleanly, and check the rim for fuel after filling.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no expert report are documented for this cap, so it is sold for the track only. The 1299 Panigale's standard cap usually locks with the ignition key; keep it for the road, where the Accossato cap is not an easy substitute.
