DescriptionThe whole story▼
The XSR900 takes the MT-09's triple and dresses it in flat tracker styling, a look that owners enjoy showing off at custom bike nights where machines are parked close together under string lights in a pub car park or a repurposed warehouse yard. Low lighting at these evening meets makes it harder to judge exactly how close a neighbouring bike's handlebar or mirror sits, and more than one XSR900 has been nudged over by someone squeezing past in the half-dark. Accossato lists the PF040 front axle sliders for the XSR900 of 2016 to 2018.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Yamaha XSR900, 2016 to 2018
- Accossato PF040, one protector for each side
- Aluminium and plastic, black finish
- Spacers, screws and remaining mounting parts in the kit, according to Accossato
- PF055 sliders, PP080 rear sliders and TP097 crash pads also listed for this bike
- Designed to take the first contact if the bike tips over
- Same pair listed for the MT-09, MT-09 SP, Tracer 900 and Tracer 900 GT
- No German ABE on file; for racing and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The PF040 pair is finished in black, each slider a mix of aluminium and plastic sized for the left and right side of the front wheel. Accossato's kit, by its own description, carries the spacers, screws and the remaining parts needed for mounting. At a dimly lit custom bike night, where machines stand close together and visibility is poor, these sliders are the parts meant to meet the ground first if the XSR900 is nudged over, limiting what the fork and front axle area take as a result. A slider that has clearly ground down should be swapped for a new one.
Squeezed Past in the Half-Dark
Evening bike meets trade daylight visibility for atmosphere, and string lights or a scattering of portable lamps rarely illuminate the gaps between parked machines as well as a rider squeezing past assumes. Someone walking their own bike into a tight row, trying not to disturb anyone, can still clip a handlebar or a mirror on the XSR900 without realising it until they hear the bike go over. The low light also makes it harder for an owner to spot a bike that has started leaning before it actually falls. Checking on a parked bike occasionally through the evening, and leaving slightly more space than feels necessary, both help. If the XSR900 does get knocked over this way, the sliders take the first contact; check them, the mirror and the lever before riding home.
Fitment and Compatibility
On the XSR900, Accossato names 2016 to 2018 for the PF040, which is the span we list. The PF055 sliders apply too, alongside the PP080 at the rear and the TP097 pads on the fairing. This front slider is also shared in our shop with the MT-09, the MT-09 SP, the Tracer 900 and the Tracer 900 GT. If your bike does not sit clearly within those years, send us its details before ordering.
Road Approval
We hold no ABE or other test document for the PF040, so it is supplied for racing and competition use.
