DescriptionThe whole story▼
For more than a decade the R6 defined what a 600cc supersport should feel like on a tight, technical circuit, and the generation built between 2007 and 2016 still fills grids at club racing events across the country. Club racing puts a bike through genuine wheel-to-wheel contact at the start of a race, when a dozen or more riders funnel into the first corner together and a slightly misjudged braking point from someone else can take out a rider who did nothing wrong at all. Accossato lists the PF013 front axle sliders for the R6 of 2007 to 2016.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Yamaha R6, 2007 to 2016
- Accossato PF013, one protector for each side
- Aluminium and plastic, finished in black
- Spacers, screws and remaining mounting parts in the kit, according to Accossato
- PP001 and PP009 rear sliders, plus TP004/TP109 crash pads, also listed for this bike
- Meant to take the first contact in a fall or slide
- Same pair listed for the Honda CB1000R RA, CB600F Hornet and CBR600RR
- No German ABE on file; for racing and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato builds the PF013 from aluminium and plastic and finishes both protectors in black, one for each side of the front wheel. The kit, as described by the maker, holds the spacers, screws and other parts needed for mounting. In the scramble of a club race start, where contact from another rider can put the R6 on the ground through no fault of its own, the sliders are there to take the first contact ahead of the fork and the front axle area, which can reduce the resulting damage. A slider that has absorbed that kind of impact should be replaced before the bike races again.
Contact at the First Corner
The opening lap of a club race compresses a field of bikes into a space meant for a fraction of that number, and even careful, well-drilled riders cannot always avoid being caught up in someone else's mistake. A rider who locks a wheel under braking, or simply misjudges the gap into the first corner, can clip a neighbouring R6 and send it down without the rider on board having made any error themselves. Marshals are trained to respond quickly to a first-corner incident, and a downed bike is usually recovered to the pits rather than left trackside. After any such contact, a full check of the sliders, the fork and the levers is essential before the bike is considered fit to race again, since a knock that looked minor in the heat of the moment can still have marked a protector.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list gives the PF013 for the R6 from 2007 to 2016, and our listing follows those years. The PP001 and PP009 rear sliders, along with the TP004 and TP109 crash pads, are also listed for this bike. In our shop, the PF013 additionally covers the Honda CB1000R RA, the CB600F Hornet and the CBR600RR. Please check your R6 against the application list before ordering, or ask us to confirm it.
Road Approval
We hold no ABE or other test document for the PF013, so it is supplied for racing and competition use.
