DescriptionThe whole story▼

Yamaha built the MT-10 around the R1's engine but wrapped it in a naked, upright riding position, which makes it an odd mix: a superbike heart in a bike that is just as happy threading through a multi-storey car park as attacking a mountain pass. Low-level car parks with tight spiral ramps and painted bay lines ask for the kind of slow, precise control that feels at odds with the MT-10's character, and more than one owner has tipped the bike over in exactly this setting rather than on the open road it was bought for. Accossato lists the PF046 front axle sliders for the MT-10 of 2016 to 2018.

Key Features

  • Front axle sliders for the Yamaha MT-10, 2016 to 2018
  • Accossato PF046, one protector for each side
  • Aluminium and plastic, finished in black
  • Spacers, screws and remaining mounting parts in the kit, according to Accossato
  • PP019 rear sliders and TP025 crash pads also listed for this bike
  • Meant to take the first contact in a tip-over or slide
  • Same pair listed for the MT-10 SP, R1, R1M and R6
  • No German ABE on file; for racing and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato builds the PF046 from aluminium and plastic and finishes both protectors in black, one for each side of the bike's front wheel. The kit, as described by the maker, holds the spacers, screws and other parts needed for mounting. In a tight, low-speed manoeuvre, the sliders are there to take the first contact if the bike tips over, which can reduce the harm to the fork and the front axle area. They are consumables rather than permanent protection, and a slider that has ground down should be replaced.

A Spiral Ramp Built for Cars

Multi-storey car park ramps curve tightly and often slope more than they appear to from a seated riding position, and the MT-10, despite its naked upright stance, still carries real weight that has to be balanced through every slow turn. Painted bay lines and oil stains reduce grip exactly where a rider needs it most, on the inside of a tight spiral where the bike is already leant over at walking pace. A ticket barrier that releases late, or another car reversing unexpectedly, can force a sudden stop in the worst possible place on the ramp. If the MT-10 does tip over in a car park like this, the sliders take the first contact; check them, the mirror and the lever before continuing to the exit.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's application list gives the PF046 for the MT-10 from 2016 to 2018, and our listing follows those years. The PP019 rear sliders and the TP025 crash pads are also listed for this bike. In our shop, the PF046 additionally covers the MT-10 SP, the R1, the R1M and the R6. Please check your MT-10 against the application list before ordering, or ask us to confirm it.

Road Approval

We hold no ABE or other test document for the PF046, so it is supplied for racing and competition use.
