DescriptionThe whole story▼

The rear brake of an enduro bike leads a harder life than the front. On a Yamaha WR250F the disc sits low beside the rear wheel, where mud, sand and water reach it on every lap of a wet enduro. Accossato's DK168 is a fixed rear disc listed for the WR250F from 2003 to 2024, covering the conventional and the reverse-cylinder generations. Made as a single piece and described by Accossato as steel-made, it measures 245 mm across and 4 mm in thickness, with a 115.2 mm bore, and six 6.2 mm holes on a 133 mm circle locate it on the hub.

  • Six holes of 6.2 mm on a 133 mm hole circle

Construction and Material Quality

The DK168 is a fixed, one-piece disc, with no carrier and no rivets for mud to pack around. Accossato describes it as steel-made and states that it can replace the original disc directly. At 4 mm it is thicker than the front discs Accossato lists for the WR250F, and its mounting data, a 115.2 mm bore and six 6.2 mm holes on a 133 mm circle, are given in full. Accossato attributes the design of its discs to racing in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3.

Mud, Sand and the Rear Disc

Wet enduro conditions turn mud and fine sand into a grinding paste that the rear tyre throws straight at the disc. Pads and disc can wear more in one muddy event than in weeks of dry trail riding, and rear pads often wear out unnoticed, because the pedal still seems to work. Stones thrown up by the tyre can also bend the disc, and a bent rear disc drags and heats up. After a muddy day, wash the rear wheel with a gentle stream of water rather than aiming a pressure washer at the caliper, then dry the brake with a few stops. Check the pads whenever the rear wheel is out, replace them before the backing plate reaches the disc, and measure the disc against its printed minimum. A disc guard helps to keep rocks and ruts away from it.

Fitment and Compatibility

Two entries cover the WR250F for the DK168: the WR 250 F 4T from 2003 to 2020 and the reverse-cylinder model from 2015 to 2024, so Accossato lists this rear disc from 2003 to 2024. It is the only rear disc Accossato lists for the WR250F. At the front the range offers the DK111 from 2001 to 2019, the DK268 from 2015 to 2024 and the floating DK269 from 2017 to 2024. Accossato also lists the B8262 brake lever and the C7165 clutch lever for this bike.

Road Approval

No German ABE and no type approval exist on file for the DK168; it is intended for off-road competition.
