DescriptionThe whole story▼
Riding schools and newly licensed riders gravitate towards the SV650 for good reason: a light, forgiving V-twin with enough character to stay interesting once the basics are mastered. Slow manoeuvre practice is where most SV650 beginners meet the ground for the first time, in a quiet car park rather than on a road, usually while attempting a figure of eight or a tight U-turn at walking pace. Accossato lists its TP054 crash pads for the SV650 of 2016 to 2018.
Key Features
- Crash pads for the Suzuki SV650, 2016 to 2018
- Accossato TP054, two pads per pack
- Aluminium body, CNC-machined
- Anodised insert in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Screw cover in the same colour available on request
- Same pads listed for the SV650X
- Check with us before ordering whether drilling is needed
- No German ABE on file; for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato cuts the TP054 body from aluminium on CNC equipment and sets an anodised insert into each pad, available in six colours, with a matching screw cover offered as an extra. Two pads come in the pack. On this bike, which spends a good part of its life at low speed while a rider learns the controls, the pads are there to take the first scrape if the bike goes over, sparing the frame nearby some of the impact. They are not meant to last forever: a pad that shows a hard mark from a fall should be renewed.
The Slow Manoeuvre That Goes Wrong
Most SV650 tip-overs during training happen at a speed so low that momentum barely plays a part, which is exactly why they catch riders out: there is no sense of urgency until the bike has already leant past the point of no return. A U-turn attempted too slowly, with the head dropped and the eyes fixed on the front wheel rather than looking through the turn, is the classic setup. So is a clumsy clutch release that stalls the engine mid-manoeuvre, leaving the rider with no power to correct a lean. Instructors usually say the same thing: look where you want to go, keep a trickle of throttle and let the clutch slip rather than grabbing the brake. When the SV650 does tip over in a car park, it is rarely a dramatic fall, and the crash pads are there for precisely that undignified, low-speed moment. Check them along with the lever and the mirror before the next exercise.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the TP054 for the SV650 across 2016 to 2018, and our listing follows those years. The same pads are also listed in our shop for the SV650X. Accossato notes that some motorcycles need the fairing drilled to fit these pads, without saying which ones, so please ask us before ordering whether that applies to your SV650. No other Accossato protection part is shown for this model in the application list.
Road Approval
We have neither an ABE nor a test certificate for the TP054, and for that reason we sell it for racing and competition use.
