DescriptionThe whole story▼

Somebody who buys a Multistrada 1260 S D-Air has already decided that the unlikely is worth preparing for, and riders of that mind often end up on a training day, practising emergency stops on a closed surface until the outcome stops being a surprise. That means a great many hard applications in one morning. Accossato's EV1 street/track material is meant for road use and for amateur circuit work, and article AGPA106EV1 puts it on the AGPA106 front pad, listed for 2018 and 2019.

Key Features

  • Front pads for the Ducati Multistrada 1260 S D-Air, 2018 and 2019
  • AGPA106EV1: the AGPA106 plate carrying the EV1 street/track material
  • Described by Accossato for road riding and amateur circuit work
  • One material for the road and for a day of repeated hard stops
  • The front wheel has two calipers and takes two boxes
  • Two pads to a box, the set for one caliper
  • ST, EV2 and ZXC press the same plate for other purposes
  • No German ABE documented; sold as a competition part

Construction and Material Quality

This material exists because a great many riders do two different things with one motorcycle. Accossato's description names public roads and amateur circuit sessions in the same breath, which is a way of saying the compound is asked to work from stone cold and again when it has had no chance to cool for twenty minutes. The plate is the unchanged AGPA106, so a rider moving up or down the range is choosing a friction layer and not a different part.

Practice Stops on a Closed Surface

A braking exercise is unusually hard on a front brake because nothing in the session lets it rest. Accelerate to a marker, stop as hard as the tyre allows, turn round, do it again, twenty times before the coffee break. Road riding never concentrates the work like that. It is also the quickest way to learn what a Multistrada 1260 S D-Air will actually do when the lever is pulled properly, which is knowledge worth owning before the day it is needed in earnest.

A morning of that leaves marks. Look at the pads afterwards instead of assuming they came through it, and look into both calipers, not only the one nearest the paddock stand. Check the fluid. Let the bike cool before it goes into a van. If the friction material is close to the end, change both sides together, and give a new set a gentle first hour on the road before asking it for anything dramatic.

Fitment and Compatibility

The article is listed for the front wheel of the Multistrada 1260 S D-Air in the 2018 and 2019 seasons. A caliper on each side means two boxes for a full change. Accossato's rear pad for the same two years is the AGPA29, and no disc is offered for this model in the catalogue. Riders with a different 1260 should look up their own version rather than assume the airbag bike's entry transfers to it.

Road Approval

The AGPA106EV1 arrived here without an ABE and without a German test report, which is why it is sold as a competition part, for closed courses and organised events.

Scope of Delivery

Two AGPA106 pads in the EV1 street/track material in one box, enough for a single caliper. A front change on the D-Air calls for a pair of boxes.
