DescriptionThe whole story▼

Emergency braking is a skill that decays if it is never practised, and a training day on a closed airfield is the safe place to keep it sharp. On a Tuareg 660 the exercise is instructive: a tall bike with long suspension travel dives a long way, and learning how far to squeeze before the front tyre protests takes repetition. Accossato's EV1 street/track compound is made for riders who ask this much of a road bike, and this article combines it with the AGPA92 front pad for the Aprilia Tuareg 660 of 2022 to 2025.

Key Features

  • Front brake pads for the Aprilia Tuareg 660, 2022 to 2025
  • EV1 street/track compound, an article in its own right
  • Accossato rates EV1 for strong grip in road use and on amateur track days
  • One box holds two pads, the set for one caliper
  • Two front calipers on the Tuareg 660, so a full change is two boxes
  • The AGPP91 covers the rear wheel of the same bike
  • No Accossato disc is listed for this model
  • No German ABE or test mark on file; racing and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

EV1 street/track is Accossato's bridge between its everyday compounds and its racing ones. The company rates it for strong grip in street use and for amateur track work, which in practice describes a pad that will take repeated hard stops without the rider having to think about what is happening at the disc. On a machine as tall and as heavily loaded as a Tuareg 660 can be, that matters in one case above all: the stop nobody planned, made at full effort with the fork compressed to its limit.

Practising the Stop You Hope to Avoid

A good training day builds the skill in stages. First come stops from moderate speed with a deliberate, progressive squeeze, so the weight has time to move forward and the tyre is loaded before the real force arrives. Then the same thing a little faster, then with a swerve afterwards, then with an instructor calling the moment you were not expecting. The lesson never changes: grab, and the front goes light on its springs while the tyre complains; squeeze, and the same bike stops remarkably short.

A day of that is hard on a brake in a way normal road riding is not. Dozens of full-effort stops in an hour put real heat into pads and discs and take visible thickness off the friction material. Let the bike roll between runs instead of standing still with the lever held, check the fluid before the day starts, and look at the pads when it ends. Practice is worth every minute of it, but it is not free.

Fitment and Compatibility

One machine stands behind this article: the Tuareg 660 as built from 2022 to 2025, with no separate versions in Accossato's list. The pad goes into the original calipers, of which there are two at the front, so a complete change means two boxes and a matched pair on each side. The rear of the Tuareg 660 is covered by the AGPP91, and Accossato catalogues no brake disc for this bike.

Road Approval

We have no ABE for this compound and no test mark, so it goes out for track days, training events on closed ground and competition.

Scope of Delivery
