DescriptionThe whole story▼
A middleweight four like the CB650F likes to be kept in its rev range, and that means gear changes, lots of them. Each one is a small test of the left hand: pull too slowly or too far and the change feels lazy; release too abruptly and the bike jerks. The Accossato ESH065 is a clutch lever for the CB650F of 2014 to 2018, whose distance to the grip you can adjust so that each change needs only a short, quick movement.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Honda CB650F, 2014 to 2018
- Replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mounting
- Adjustable reach for short, quick pulls
- Blade lengths: short, standard (about 138 mm), long
- Anodised colours: black, red, silver, blue, gold, green, orange
- Hub always black; CNC-machined aluminium
- Fixed, rigid blade
- No German ABE documented, for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato gives the ESH065 its shape on CNC machines and its colour by anodising, black for the hub and your choice for the blade. The pivot and the adjuster live in the hub; the blade continues from it in one rigid piece. For fast gear changes on the CB650F, that construction has a clear advantage: a quick pull on the blade moves the clutch at once, and the lever returns to exactly the same position every time, so your fingers always find it where they left it.
Quick, Short Pulls for Smooth Changes
Smooth upshifts on a four-cylinder bike rarely need the full travel of the clutch lever. A common technique is to put light pressure on the gear lever with your foot, roll off the throttle slightly, pull the clutch just enough to take the load off, click the gear, and let the lever snap back as the throttle opens again. The whole sequence takes a fraction of a second, and it depends on a lever that can be pulled with a short, flicking movement of two or four fingers. If the blade sits far out, the hand has to open wide first, and the change becomes slow and clumsy. Set the ESH065 so that your fingers rest on it with a slight bend, and try a few changes on an empty road until you find how little movement is needed. Downshifts benefit too, because a quick, partial pull is easier to time with a blip of the throttle. On the CB650F, well-timed changes keep the engine where it pulls most strongly and the ride smooth.
Fitment and Compatibility
The ESH065 fits the CB650F from 2014 to 2018 at the original clutch mounting. Although Accossato's list extends beyond that, the CB650F was succeeded by the CB650R once the 2018 model year was over, and this product therefore stops at 2018. Its counterpart on the brake side is the EDF018, which covers the same bikes and comes in the same seven colours.
