DescriptionThe whole story▼

The F 800 GT is often the bike that is ridden all year round: to work in February, on the first long tour in April, home late on an evening in October. On the cold mornings of that year, the left hand suffers most, because it has to keep working the clutch while the fingers stiffen. With Accossato's ESB008, a machined aluminium clutch lever for the F 800 GT of 2013 to 2018, the blade can be brought closer to cold, slow fingers; it fits the original clutch mounting.

Key Features

  • Clutch lever for the BMW F 800 GT, 2013 to 2018
  • Fits at the original clutch mounting
  • Reach adjustment close to the pivot
  • Standard blade (about 138 mm) in all colours; long blade in blue, gold, green and orange
  • CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
  • Black hub, blade in one of seven colours
  • Fixed lever without a folding joint

Construction and Material Quality

The ESB008 is cut from aluminium by CNC milling and then anodised, which leaves the blade with a smooth, even surface for gloved fingers. The hub is anodised black on every lever and carries the pivot bore together with the reach adjuster; the blade is black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green, as you choose. As a fixed lever it has no folding joint, only one continuous blade, so the clutch feels the same in January as it does in July, apart from what the cold does to your hands.

Cold Hands, Stiff Fingers

Cold does two things to a hand. It makes the fingers stiffer and slower, and it weakens the grip, so a clutch that feels light in summer can feel heavy on a frosty morning. Add stiff winter gloves and fingers that are cold, and the stretch to a lever set up in summer becomes a real effort at every junction. There are two ways to reduce that effort on the F 800 GT. The first is to bring the lever a little closer, so cold fingers do not have to open as far before they pull, while leaving room for the bulk of the glove; the reach adjuster on the ESB008 lets you do that in a moment, and move it back when spring comes. The second is length. A longer blade lets the fingers work further from the pivot, where they have more leverage, and the long version is made in blue, gold, green and orange. Heated grips, if your bike has them, keep the fingers supple; the lever setting does the rest.

Fitment and Compatibility

The ESB008 appears in Accossato's list for the F 800 GT from 2013 to 2018 and fits in place of the BMW lever at the original clutch mounting. For the right side of the F 800 GT's handlebar, the EDB001 brake lever covers the same model years. Both come with the black hub and the same seven blade colours.

Road Approval

No German ABE has been documented for the ESB008; it is offered for use on closed circuits.
