DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Tiger 800 XC has taken plenty of owners a long way from home, on spoked wheels and long-travel suspension that make gravel roads part of the plan rather than a detour. Far from home, small parts matter, and a lever snapped in a gentle fall on a rocky track can end a day, or a trip. The Accossato EDF014 is a rigid, machined aluminium brake lever with adjustable reach for the Tiger 800 XC of 2011 to 2018, and a good reason to think about what goes into the spares bag before you leave.

Key Features

  • Brake lever for the Tiger 800 XC, 2011 to 2018
  • Mounts on the original master cylinder
  • Reach adjuster next to the pivot
  • Blades: standard approx. 138 mm, short and long in selected colours
  • CNC-machined aluminium, anodised, black hub
  • Seven blade colours
  • Fixed, non-folding design
  • No German ABE documented, intended for the track

Construction and Material Quality

The EDF014 is a fixed lever. It is machined from solid aluminium on CNC equipment, anodised, and built as one rigid piece from the black hub to the coloured tip, with no folding section in between. On the road that rigidity gives a direct, consistent feel. Off the road it has a flip side worth stating plainly: a fixed lever cannot swing out of the way in a fall, so a hard impact on a rock can bend or break it. At the hub end sit the pivot and the reach setting, and anodising gives the whole part a hard finish that stands up to dust, water and cleaning.

A Spare for the Long Trip

Riders who travel far on a Tiger 800 XC often carry a small bag of spares, and a brake lever earns its place in it, because a bike without one cannot be ridden safely. The simplest spare costs nothing: keep the original lever you removed when fitting the Accossato, wrap it in a rag and pack it with the tool that fits its pivot bolt. Check before you leave that you really have that tool, and practise the swap once at home, in daylight, so that it takes minutes by the roadside rather than an hour. If you prefer a second Accossato lever as the spare, order it in the same length, so that the leverage and feel you are used to stay the same. The short blade also has less length exposed, which some riders appreciate on narrow, rocky trails.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the EDF014 for the Tiger 800 XC across two generations: the first from 2011 to 2014 and the updated bike from 2015 to 2018. The matching EST333P clutch lever is listed only for the 2015 to 2018 XC, so owners of earlier bikes buy the brake lever on its own. The XCx has a listing of its own. Silver is available standard or short, while black and red come as standard levers.

Road Approval

No German ABE is on record for the EDF014 on the Tiger 800 XC, and we sell it for track riding.
