DescriptionThe whole story▼
MV Agusta built the Rivale 800 around its three-cylinder engine and styled it like a big supermoto: tall, slim, with a wide handlebar and a riding position that invites quick changes of direction. On a road full of S-bends, the right hand switches between throttle and brake several times within a few seconds. The Accossato EDF015 replaces the Rivale's original front brake lever with a CNC-machined aluminium one. Its distance to the grip can be adjusted, so the lever is exactly where your fingers expect it, and Accossato lists it for the 2014 to 2017 model years.
Key Features
- Replaces the front brake lever of the MV Agusta Rivale 800, 2014 to 2017
- Mounts on the original master cylinder
- Adjustable distance between blade and grip
- Seven blade colours, hub always black
- Three lengths, short, standard (approx. 138 mm) and long, depending on colour
- Milled from solid aluminium and anodised
- Fixed construction without a folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato mills the EDF015 from a block of aluminium on CNC machines before anodising it. Anodising is not a coat laid over the metal; the coloured layer is formed from the aluminium surface itself, so there is no paint film that could lift at the edges after a few seasons. Every hub, with its pivot and reach adjuster, is black, and the blade carries one of seven colours. From pivot to tip the blade is a single rigid piece, because the EDF015 is a fixed lever and has no hinge.
Left, Right, Left
A string of S-bends is where the Rivale 800 feels most at home, and it is also where its brake lever works hardest. Between one lean and the next there is often only a short straight, just long enough for a brief squeeze that trims the speed before the bike is flicked over again. Because you are working the wide bar hard as you flick from side to side, your hand has little time to settle before it goes for the lever. A blade set close enough to be caught with two fingers, without opening the whole hand, keeps those short applications fast and accurate. Riders who ride like this often prefer the short blade, since it leaves the remaining fingers wrapped around the grip, ready for the next opening of the throttle. Those who brake with more fingers, or ride mainly in town, will find the standard length the more natural choice on the Rivale 800.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF015 for the Rivale 800 from 2014 to 2017. The lever sits on the bike's original master cylinder in place of the standard part. On the clutch side, the ESM048 is the Accossato lever for the same model years; ordered together, the two can share a colour, or differ in length if that suits your hands better.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE on record for this brake lever. It is sold for use on closed tracks.
