DescriptionThe whole story▼

The RC 200 sits between KTM's RC 125 and RC 390, a light single-cylinder sports bike with a full fairing and clip-on bars. Take it to a track day or on a group ride and you will often share the road with much larger machines that brake later and harder than you do, so being predictable matters as much as being quick. Accossato's EDF039 replaces the stock brake lever of the 2014 and 2015 RC 200 with a machined aluminium one whose reach you can adjust.

Key Features

  • Brake lever for the KTM RC 200, 2014 to 2015
  • Mounts on the original master cylinder
  • Reach adjustable to hand and glove
  • Short, standard (approx. 138 mm) and long blades
  • Seven anodised colours, black hub
  • Rigid CNC-machined aluminium blade
  • Shipped in an Accossato box

Construction and Material Quality

From a block of aluminium, a CNC machine cuts the EDF039 in its finished form, including the bore for the pivot and the housing for the reach adjuster. Anodising supplies its colours, black for the hub and your pick for the blade, as a surface that is part of the metal rather than a layer on it. There is no folding mechanism; blade and hub form one fixed lever. On a light sports bike such as the RC 200 this keeps the brake's response crisp, because every change in finger pressure travels to the master cylinder directly.

A Small Bike Among Big Ones

Riders of larger bikes brake from higher speeds, usually later and harder, and they judge where to pass by watching where the bikes around them slow down. A small bike that brakes at a different point on every lap, or dabs at the lever in the middle of a corner, is hard to read, and that is when close calls happen. On the RC 200, the aim is consistency: the same markers, the same build-up, the same release. A hand can only repeat a movement accurately if the lever is always where it expects it, which is why the reach deserves careful setting in the pits, with the gloves you ride in and in the riding position, not standing beside the bike. Choose a length that suits your technique, the short blade for two fingers or the standard one for three or four. Then hold your line, look well ahead and leave the passing to the faster rider, who will find it easier the more predictable you are. A light bike carries its speed well through corners, so a smooth, repeatable rhythm on the RC 200 is usually quicker than a late, heavy stop anyway.

Fitment and Compatibility

This lever is listed for the RC 200 of 2014 and 2015. It sits on the bike's own master cylinder in place of the stock lever, and the brake system itself stays as KTM built it.

Road Approval

With no German ABE on record, the EDF039 is offered for use on the circuit.
