DescriptionThe whole story▼
For a great many young riders in Europe, the KTM 125 Duke was the first real motorcycle: a 125 that could be ridden on an A1 licence, with a lively single-cylinder engine and the sharp looks of its bigger Duke relatives. A first motorcycle is where braking habits are formed, good ones and bad ones alike. The Accossato EDF039 replaces the front brake lever of the 125 Duke from 2011 to 2015 with a CNC-machined aluminium lever, anodised, with an adjustable reach and three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the KTM 125 Duke, 2011 to 2015
- Mounts on the original master cylinder
- Reach adjustable for smaller hands
- Short blade in blue, gold, green, orange or silver
- Standard length approximately 138 mm in all seven colours
- Machined from aluminium, anodised, black hub
- Fixed blade without a folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
A lever for a small bike is made no differently from one for a big bike. The EDF039 is machined from aluminium on CNC equipment and anodised, which gives it crisp edges and a colour that belongs to the surface of the metal rather than to a layer of paint. The hub, carrying the pivot and the reach adjuster, is always black. The blade comes in seven colours, orange among them, the shade most people connect with KTM. It is a fixed lever, without a hinge anywhere between hub and tip.
A First Motorcycle at Sixteen
In much of Europe, the A1 licence opens the road to 125 cc motorcycles from the age of sixteen, and not every young rider's hand matches the reach of a standard lever. Beginners also tend to rely on the rear brake because it feels less dramatic, even though the front does most of the stopping. A lever that the fingers reach comfortably encourages its use. On the EDF039 the reach adjuster brings the blade closer, and the short version shortens it further for riders who brake with two fingers. Set it together with the rider, in the gloves they actually wear, and check it again after a few months: hands grow, gloves change, and the adjuster makes it easy to keep up. A few supervised practice stops in an empty car park, building the pressure on the front brake step by step, help to turn the new lever position into a habit on the 125 Duke.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF039 for the 125 Duke in two entries, 2011 to 2012 and 2013 to 2015, so the lever covers the model years from 2011 to 2015. It mounts on the original master cylinder. For the clutch, Accossato names the ESK390, listed from 2014 to 2021; a matching pair from Accossato is therefore possible for 125 Duke bikes of 2014 and 2015.
Road Approval
We offer the EDF039 as a part for closed circuits, since no German ABE is documented for it.
