DescriptionThe whole story

The TRK 502 is Benelli's adventure tourer: a parallel twin, a large fuel tank, a tall screen and a riding position made for long days. Many owners use it for exactly what its looks suggest, touring over mountain roads where the surface can change within a single bend. The Accossato EDF016 is a CNC-machined aluminium brake lever for the TRK 502's original master cylinder, with an adjustable distance to the grip. Accossato lists it for the 2017 and 2018 model years.

Construction and Material Quality

On an adventure bike, a brake lever lives among dark components: switch housings, the master cylinder, often hand guards as well. Accossato anodises the hub of the EDF016 black so that it blends into that area, and gives the blade the colour you select, which is the only part you really need to see. Before that, the entire lever is machined from solid aluminium on CNC machines, so the hub's pivot bore and the seat of the reach adjuster come out the same on every piece. The blade is fixed, and nowhere in the lever is there a folding joint.

Gravel on the Apex

Mountain roads collect loose material in predictable places. After rain, gravel washes down from the slopes and settles on the inside of bends, just where a rider on the ideal line would place the front tyre. Tractors and lorries drag grit out of side tracks onto the tarmac. On a loaded TRK 502, the answer is to brake earlier and in a straight line, enter the bend a little wider than usual, and keep the front brake free while the bike is leaned over the loose part. If you do have to slow down in the bend, do it gently, with the fingers already on the lever rather than grabbing for it in a hurry. This is where the adjustable reach earns its place. Set the blade so it can be covered without strain, and do it in the gloves you actually wear on your trips, not the thin pair you tried it with in the garage.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the EDF016 for the TRK 502 from 2017 to 2018, mounted on the original front brake master cylinder. For the clutch of the same bikes, Accossato makes the ESD037, which is listed for the same two model years.

Road Approval

There is no documented German ABE for the EDF016, so we sell it for circuit use.
