DescriptionThe whole story▼
This is the Knox Tor as a complete adventure kit: the all-black Tor armoured shirt plus its own packable waterproof shell in Charcoal, sold together as one set. Knox calls it the Tor Duo, and the idea is simple: ride in the shirt when it is hot, pull the shell over it when a shower comes through.
The shirt is certified to EN 17092 Class AA and carries Micro-Lock Compact Level 2 armour at shoulders and elbows plus a full-length back protector. The shell weighs very little and folds into its own pocket, then into one of the shirt's.
Key Features
- Set of two: black Tor armoured shirt and Charcoal Tor waterproof shell
- Shirt certified EN 17092 Class AA, wearable without a jacket
- Level 2 Micro-Lock Compact armour in shoulders, elbows and full-length back
- Shell: 100% rip-stop nylon, 10K waterproof, fully seam-sealed
- Shell packs into its own micro pocket and fits in a shirt pocket
- Five zipped shirt pockets, key clip, visor wipe, four internal pockets
- Reflective piping on the shirt, all-over reflective mountain print on the shell
Two Pieces, One Adventure Outfit
Knox built the Tor for adventure riding and touring in heat, on and off road. The armoured shirt is the protective layer: close-fitting, stretchy, ventilated with two-tone In-Motion mesh and strong enough for Class AA. The Charcoal shell is the weather layer, and buying both together means you leave home with rain protection already in your pocket.
Knox's Seasonless idea runs through the set: one core layer with armour, plus layers added or removed with the weather. A Union Quilt can be worn under or over the shirt if you also need warmth.
The Armoured Shirt
High-tenacity nylon with spandex forms the main body, combined with mesh in the zones where heat builds up. Raglan sleeves and adjustable rivet cuffs keep the arms free, and the shirt holds Micro-Lock Compact Level 2 protectors at shoulder and elbow plus a full-length Level 2 back protector.
Five zipped external pockets with reflective pullers (four front, one rear), a key clip in the right chest pocket, a visor wipe in the left and four internal pockets make it a self-contained travel garment. A Velcro mount takes an optional chest protector, and the belt loops fasten the shirt to your trousers.
The Waterproof Shell
The Tor Shell is cut from 100 percent rip-stop nylon with a 10K waterproof membrane and sealed seams. Knox describes it as light as a feather, thin and semi-translucent, so it doesn't feel heavy or hot when you wear it over the shirt.
It is a pull-over design: no main zip, just a stretch drawstring at the neck that you tighten to the length you want. An elastic hem and bonded stretch cuffs close the openings. Once the rain stops, the shell packs into a micro pocket on its inside and slides into any of the shirt's pockets.
Seen at Night
On the shirt, reflective piping, zip pulls and Knox prints at front and back of the neck help visibility. The shell adds an all-over tonal reflective print inspired by the mountains around Knox in the English Lake District: barely visible by day, bright in headlights.
What You Should Know
The shell keeps rain out but has no insulation, no pockets for protectors and is not protective clothing in itself; its job is to go over the armoured shirt. The shirt alone is a hot-weather garment.
No chest protector is supplied. The shirt is close-fitting, and the shell is cut with room to go over it; Knox recommends the larger size if you are between two.
Colour
All Black shirt with a Charcoal shell is the most discreet Tor combination. The black shirt hides grease and road dirt well but gets warm in direct sun; the dark grey shell sits naturally on top and does not look like an emergency rain cape. In poor light the reflective print on the shell does most of the work, so this pairing relies on it for visibility after dark.
