DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Arai RX-7V Evo in the Samurai graphic represents the absolute pinnacle of Arai's decades of helmet engineering — a race-focused full-face helmet that has earned ECE 22.06 homologation and FIM approval, meeting the most demanding safety standards on the market today. Built for riders who demand track-ready protection without compromise, this 2023 collection piece pairs a fiberglass composite shell with a revised interior designed from the ground up for the EVO generation.
Key Features
- Certified to ECE R22-06, the strictest homologation standard currently in force for road and racing use — as well as holding FIM homologation for competition
- VAS MAX Vision visor delivers an expanded field of view in all conditions, and ships ready-fitted with a Pinlock anti-fog insert for year-round clarity
- Revised cheek pads on the EVO version route the lateral air channels to the rear of the pad, improving both airflow management and interior comfort
- Upgraded fully removable and washable liner made from the new Eco Pure material — fresher on long rides, easier to maintain between sessions
- Fiberglass composite shell construction achieves an excellent strength-to-weight balance at approximately 1,550 g ± 50 g
- Double-D-ring retention system and a five-year Arai guarantee complete a package engineered to last
Design and Build Quality
The Samurai graphic is offered in a gloss finish that makes the design's sharp, angular lines pop in any light. The outer shell is fiberglass composite — Arai's preferred choice for its ability to absorb and disperse impact energy progressively, rather than shattering. At XL sizing, it is worth noting that the outer shell steps up one size (from shell size 86 to 88), which helps maintain the balanced proportions Arai is known for at the larger end of the fit range.
The interior has been thoroughly revised for the EVO. Lateral air channel routing has been moved to the rear of the cheek pads, reducing pressure points for riders wearing the helmet on extended stints. The Eco Pure liner material is fully removable and machine washable, keeping the helmet fresh across a full season of road or track use.
Optics and Visibility
The VAS MAX Vision shield is Arai's widest-view visor system, engineered to reduce the blind spots that narrower shields create at corner entry. It comes Pinlock-prepared as standard, and the included Pinlock insert creates a double-glazing effect that eliminates fogging in cold, wet, or humid conditions — a practical advantage for road riders as much as track-day regulars.
Communication System Compatibility
The RX-7V Evo has conditional compatibility with a number of Bluetooth intercom systems. SHARP's test programme documents communication system compatibility for the RX-7V EVO specifically. Riders who rely on intercoms are advised to verify fitment with their chosen unit before purchase, as the close race-fit geometry may limit options compared to touring-oriented helmets.
Fitment Note
Due to the sportingly snug race-fit geometry of the RX-7V Evo, this helmet is not well suited to spectacle wearers. Riders who require vision correction are strongly advised to consider contact lenses or to test the helmet in person before ordering.
Size Guide
- XS — 53 to 54 cm
- S — 55 to 56 cm
- M — 57 to 58 cm
- L — 59 cm
- XL — 60 to 61 cm (outer shell size 88)
Please note: at XL, the outer shell is one size larger (86 to 88) than the smaller sizes. This is normal for this model and does not affect fit or safety performance.
Fitment and Compatibility
The Arai RX-7V Evo is a standalone helmet product and is not specific to a single motorcycle make or model. It is road-legal across all ECE 22.06 markets and FIM-approved for use in competition. Suitable for all motorcycle disciplines where a full-face helmet is required.

“The only helmet here with five SHARP stars, and the ventilation is genuinely the best of the traditional shells. You pay for it in weight — 1,568 g is a lot after two sessions — and the long-oval interior will not suit every rider.”
— the Inter-Pace crewECE 22.06 and FIM — plus five SHARP stars, rare here.
Double-D, emergency release, hand-laid PB-SNC2 shell.
Reviewers call the airflow the strongest thing about it.
Smooth shell, no snag points — Arai's long-standing rule.
1,568 g — the heaviest carbon-free shell in this field.
100 dB at 130 km/h, quiet for how heavily vented it is.
Peel-away padding lets you shape the fit over time.
Long-oval only — it does not suit every head.
The traditionalist's race helmet, still hand-made.
Old-school engineering, priced accordingly.
