Midtown is the top line in the Y.10 range and pairs clean single colours with the camel trim. In white it is the most conspicuous version of the most expensive Y.10 — a useful combination for a helmet used in traffic.

What an open-face helmet does and does not do

The honest summary of what a jet is for: it is the helmet you wear when practicality and awareness matter more than coverage. Short journeys, town riding, scooters and small motorcycles, warm weather, and any situation where being able to see and hear properly is worth more than the extra material.

About the Midtown White Camel finish

The Midtown line sits 16 € above the Sunny versions and the difference is in the finish quality and the detailing rather than in any specification — shell, sun visor, buckle, liner and approvals are identical across the whole Y.10 range. What you are buying is the execution. In white with camel trim it is also the version that does most for you in city traffic, because a pale shell at head height is what a driver's eye resolves first in flat light. 🔵 It is equally the version that shows road film soonest, and the camel trim will darken with skin contact over time.

Polyfusion, two shells and three approvals

The structure is conventional and appropriate: an injection-moulded thermoplastic shell to spread the load and resist penetration, and a polystyrene liner beneath it to absorb energy by crushing.

🔵 A crushed liner does not recover. A helmet that has taken a real impact is finished, whatever it looks like from the outside.

The sun visor, the peak — and the clear visor that is not there

🔵 The peak is included rather than optional, which at this price is worth noting — most jets sell it separately. It fits without tools and comes off just as easily if you prefer the plain silhouette.

Behind it, the lightly tinted drop-down shield is the only screen the helmet has.

Airflow on an open-face

Nexx describes the airflow as an active system for urban climate control, which is the right framing — this is a helmet for stop-start city riding rather than for sustained speed, and the ventilation is scaled to that.

🔵 An integrated two-stage top vent is fitted to some versions of the Y.10. It is not a range-wide feature.

Interior, glasses and the buckle

🔵 The slim liner shape is a real design decision rather than a marketing line. On a helmet where riders put glasses on after the helmet rather than before, padding that catches the arms turns a two-second action into a fiddle every single time.

Nexx cut this one to avoid that, and it is fully removable for washing.

Intercom — and the 45 mm limit

An intercom on a city helmet earns its keep in traffic rather than on the open road: navigation without looking at a screen, and a call answered without stopping. The Y.10 is prepared for any universal system up to 45 mm.

1325 grams, and the rest of the honest list

What you are buying at 1325 g is a helmet that disappears. No chin bar, no visor mechanism, nothing pressing anywhere — and after twenty minutes you stop noticing it, which is the highest compliment a helmet gets.

🔵 What you are not buying is chin protection, a clear screen, or a helmet for anything faster than city riding.

Choosing the right size

Between two sizes, most riders take the larger one on this helmet — but that is a starting point rather than a rule. The correct test is whether the helmet moves independently of your scalp when you push it, not how it feels in the first thirty seconds.

When something wears out

🔵 Washing the liner is the single most effective maintenance you can do. Sweat breaks down foam over time, and a liner washed a few times a season lasts appreciably longer than one that never is.

It comes out by hand, and replacement interiors are available when washing is no longer enough.

Where it sits in Nexx's range

🔵 Worth checking before you buy any inexpensive jet: which ECE revision it holds, how many shell sizes the range uses, and whether a drop-down shield is fitted. The Y.10 answers those as 22-06, two, and yes.

The answer it does not give is a clear visor, which is not supplied.
