DescriptionThe whole story

Silver is the closest thing on this shelf to an unpainted helmet — it reads as material rather than as a colour choice, which on a plain urban dome is an unusually good fit.

What an open-face helmet does and does not do

🔵 A helmet carrying two approval marks — ECE 22.06 and DOT — can look comprehensively protective. Both certify this helmet as an open-face, on schedules that do not test a chin bar because there is none to test.

Everything the standards do cover, the Viale SV S meets, and to the current ECE revision rather than the superseded 22.05.

About the Tasty C4 finish

A grey helmet is a colour; a gloss silver is a suggestion of metal, and on a smooth shell with no vent hardware to interrupt it that suggestion holds up surprisingly well. It also solves the problem the black versions have: silver is a genuinely bright value, so you keep a low-key, undemanding finish without giving away the conspicuity that matters most in traffic. In summer it runs among the coolest shells in the range alongside the white, because a pale surface reflects rather than absorbs — which on a helmet MT makes no ventilation claims for is worth having. 🔵 It hides road film better than white and worse than black, and like every gloss finish it shows swirls if dry-wiped. Wash it wet, dry it with a clean cloth, and the metallic depth stays. It is also the most distinctive of the three Pure-adjacent finishes without being a colour anyone will comment on. On a scooter finished in black or grey it is the one that lifts the whole thing.

ECE 22.06, DOT — and what „with all accessories" means

🔵 No independent safety rating exists for this helmet and none will — SHARP does not lab-rate open-face jets. There is no ADAC or Snell entry, and no published road test of the Viale SV S.

What it holds is ECE 22.06 and DOT certification — pass marks rather than comparative ratings.

HIRP — and a weight figure worth reading carefully

Six sizes from XXS to XL is a useful range for an urban helmet, and the XXS in particular is genuinely hard to find at any price.

🔵 Note the range stops at XL rather than continuing to XXL, which several other MT models do — check your measurement before ordering.

The drop-down sun visor

If you wear prescription glasses, a drop-down shield is far more practical than prescription sunglasses or a tinted visor — it goes up and down without removing anything, which on a helmet taken off at every stop is worth a great deal.

🔵 It is one of the few premium features on a 72-euro helmet.

The MT-V-26B visor — and what this helmet does not have

Four visor tints are offered — Clear, Dark, Iridium and Iridium Blue — which on a helmet at this price is a wider choice than most.

🔵 The Dark and the two Iridium versions are daylight items: fixed tints are not road-legal at night in most of Europe, and there is no Pinlock option on any of them.

The MT-Micrometric+ closure

🔵 A loose strap is the most common way a helmet fails to do its job, and on an open-face it matters more than usual — there are no full cheek pads gripping the jaw to help hold the helmet in place.

The MT-Micrometric+ closure adjusts finely enough to get it right. Check it periodically.

Interior, fit and washing

🔵 A new helmet should feel firm but never painful. The lining beds in over the first few hours and again across the first season, so a helmet that is perfect in the shop will usually be loose by the summer's end. Start tighter than comfortable.

Six sizes cover XXS to XL.

Intercom compatibility

Intercom compatibility on an entry-level jet is one of three features that lift the Viale SV S above its class — alongside the drop-down sun visor and the removable washable interior.

🔵 The system itself is a separate purchase.

Where it sits in MT's range

🔵 If you want chin protection, MT's Stinger 2 full-face costs 12 € more than this helmet and covers your jaw. That is the single largest protective difference available at this price, and it is worth weighing before choosing a jet on convenience alone.

What the Viale SV S gives you instead is the open-face format and a sun visor the Stinger 2 does not have.

When something wears out

🔵 A word on visor care, because it prevents most of the visor sales we make. Never wipe a dry visor — road dust is abrasive and dragging it across the surface leaves permanent fine scratches that flare against oncoming headlights at night.

Wet it first, every time. With no Pinlock available, the visor's own condition is all you have.
