DescriptionThe whole story▼
Bare 6K weave under a satin lacquer, with nothing on top of it. On a helmet whose entire argument is that the shell — chin bar included — is carbon all the way through, showing the material is the honest presentation.
Carbon throughout — chin bar included
The shell is 100 % carbon fibre in a 6K weave — including the chin bar, which is unusual. Many carbon modulars use a composite bar and describe the helmet as carbon anyway.
🔵 The complete helmet weighs about 1550 g (±50 g), over a multi-density EPS liner with moulded ventilation channels.
No safety rating — and why the Advant X stars do not apply here
🔵 This helmet has no independent safety rating, and we are not going to give it one by association.
SHARP does list an „ADVANT X" at 4 stars — but it describes the tested helmet as composite fibre, 1.6 kg. That is the HPFC version of the FF901, not this carbon one at 1550 g.
A flip-up with P/J dual homologation
The Advant X Carbon is a flip-up: the chin bar rotates a full 180 degrees to the rear of the shell rather than resting on the forehead, so it sits out of the airflow and out of your eyeline.
🟢 It carries P/J dual homologation — tested and approved in both positions, closed as a full-face and open as a jet.
About the matt carbon finish
This is the version where the structural material is the finish: no basecoat, no graphic, no clear coat built up to a mirror, just enough satin lacquer to seal the resin against ultraviolet. The weave runs visibly and regularly across the shell and, unusually, across the chin bar as well — most carbon modulars use a composite bar, and this one does not. It is also one of the two cheaper solids, slightly below the graphics. 🔵 One care note matters more on carbon than on any painted helmet: satin lacquer is thin, and it is the only thing between UV and the resin matrix underneath. Wash it, never polish it — abrasive compound cuts straight through a satin coat and leaves a permanently glossy scar that cannot be blended out. Park it out of full sun where you reasonably can, and never clean it with solvent, petrol or alcohol.
Twin Visor, Pinlock 120 XLT and a tinted spare
The Twin Visor System pairs the main screen with an internal sun visor that drops on a slider and retracts completely into the shell.
🟢 Two things ship in the box that are usually accessories: a Pinlock® 120 MaxVision™ XLT anti-fog insert and a complete second visor in a tint. A backpack is included as well.
Chin and crown intakes, channelled EPS
Air enters at the chin and crown, crosses channels moulded into the multi-density EPS, and leaves through the exhaust port at the rear.
🔵 The channelling is the part that matters: intakes and exhausts move air into and out of a shell, while channels move it across your scalp in between.
Metal buckle and the Emergency Release System
Retention is a micrometric metal buckle — a ratchet that fastens one-handed in gloves and returns to the same tension every time, with a metal mechanism rather than a moulded one.
🟢 An Emergency Release System is fitted: tabs that let responders withdraw the cheek pads before the helmet is moved.
X-Static lining and everyday comfort
The lining is X-Static® — a fabric with metallic silver in the fibre, used for its antibacterial behaviour — on laser-cut foam, hypoallergenic, fully removable and washable.
🟢 This is one of the two things the carbon version genuinely adds over the composite Advant X, which LS2 does not list with X-Static.
Carbon or composite — which Advant X to buy
🔵 The comparison that decides this purchase is against LS2's own cheaper composite Advant X: 1600 g, 4 SHARP stars, no X-Static. This carbon version is 50 g lighter, adds X-Static and a carbon chin bar, costs more — and has no independent rating.Care and replacement parts
The parts that wear are all replaceable: both visors, the sun visor mechanism, cheek pads in several thicknesses, the complete lining, vent covers and the breath deflector.
🔵 The EPS is not among them. It crushes once and does not recover.

Specification

- Part number — 569017098
- Colour — Solid — Matt carbon
- Homologation — ECE 22.06, P/J dual homologation — approved closed and open
- 🔴 Safety rating — none. SHARP lists an „ADVANT X" at 4 stars, but records it as composite fibre, 1.6 kg — the HPFC version, not this 6K carbon shell at 1550 g. Brand list checked in full: no „Advant X Carbon" or „FF901 Carbon" entry; Certimoov has none. The stars are deliberately not carried over
- Helmet type — Flip-up touring — chin bar rotates 180° to the rear
- Shell — 100 % carbon fibre, 6K weave, including the chin bar. 🔵 Two shell sizes only (XS–S–M–L / XL–2XL–3XL)
- Impact liner — multi-density EPS with moulded ventilation channels
- Weight — approx. 1550 g (±50 g). 🔵 The composite Advant X is 1600 g — carbon saves 50 g here
- Sizes — XS to 3XL (seven sizes), no XXS. Prepared for Bluetooth intercom; no system supplied
- Optics — Twin Visor System — main visor plus retracting sun visor
- 🟢 Included — Pinlock® 120 MaxVision™ XLT, a complete tinted second visor and a backpack, plus a breath deflector
- 🔴 Tinted visor — daylight only — most European jurisdictions bar tinted visors at night
- Ventilation — chin and crown intakes, channelled multi-density EPS, rear exhaust port. 🔵 assessed from construction; no independent measurement exists
- 🔴 Wind noise — left unrated — no measurement published. Reviewers generally find modulars louder than comparable full-faces at motorway speed; that is an impression, not data
- Retention — micrometric metal buckle
- Emergency access — Emergency Release System — tabs let responders withdraw the cheek pads first
- Interior — X-Static® silver antibacterial lining on laser-cut foam; hypoallergenic, removable, washable. 🔵 the composite Advant X is not listed with X-Static
- 🔴 FIM homologation — none — a road helmet; no modular is FIM-eligible
- Serviceability — both visors, sun visor mechanism, cheek pads (several thicknesses), lining, vent covers, breath deflector
- Replacement guidance — after about five years, and immediately after any impact — carbon can look undamaged over crushed EPS
