DescriptionThe whole story▼
Wearing the Arai RX-7V Evo Tatsuki from dawn to dusk demands nothing less than a helmet engineered for hours of confidence on road or circuit. The RX-7V Evo is the evolved successor to Arai's flagship RX-7V, refined to meet the rigorous ECE 22.06 standard and carrying FIM homologation for those who take track days as seriously as the morning commute. Its race-inspired Tatsuki graphic — finished in a striking matte livery — makes it unmistakable in the paddock or at the lights.
Key Features
- Certified to ECE 22.06 and FIM homologated, meeting the highest road and competition safety standards currently in force.
- Fiberglass composite shell delivers an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, keeping the helmet around 1,550 g for reduced neck fatigue on longer stints.
- Redesigned cheek pads in the Evo revision route the lateral air channels to the rear of the pad, freeing up interior space for a more natural, all-day fit.
- VAS MAX Vision visor provides an exceptional field of view in all seasons, and ships with a Pinlock anti-fog insert already included so you are ready for cold morning rides from day one.
- Fully removable and washable interior, now constructed from Eco Pure material, keeps the helmet fresh through back-to-back riding days.
- Double-D-ring retention system — the benchmark closure for serious riders — for a secure, rattle-free fit at any speed.
- Backed by a 5-year Arai guarantee, reflecting the brand's confidence in long-term durability.
All-Day Comfort and Fit
Where the original RX-7V already earned a devoted following for its anatomically considered race fit, the Evo takes that foundation further. The revised cheek pad geometry works in concert with the repositioned air channels to open up interior volume without sacrificing the snug hold that matters at speed. Arai's Eco Pure liner is hypoallergenic and moisture-wicking, so the helmet stays cool and dry whether you are threading through traffic or completing a full track session. The fit runs to a sporting race cut — it is worth noting that glasses wearers may find the close profile a challenge, and trying before buying is recommended.
Shell and Construction
The outer shell is hand-laid fiberglass composite, a construction Arai has refined over decades. The smooth, rounded profile is not merely aesthetic: it is designed to deflect and redirect impact energy rather than absorb it in a single point. At approximately 1,550 g, the RX-7V Evo sits firmly in the performance full-face category. Note that the XL shell steps up one size (shell size 86 to 88), which is standard practice to maintain interior geometry across the size run.
Ventilation and Visor
The VAS MAX Vision shield is one of the widest-aperture visors in the Arai range, reducing peripheral blind spots and improving situational awareness at road speeds. The Pinlock-prepared mount means the included anti-fog insert fits directly — no adapter required. The visor mechanism has been refined in the Evo iteration and Arai supply a small quantity of visor mechanism care oil in the box to keep the action smooth season after season.
Fitment and Size Guide
The Arai RX-7V Evo Tatsuki is available in the following head circumference ranges:
- XS — 53-54 cm
- S — 55-56 cm
- M — 57-58 cm
- L — 59 cm
- XL — 60-61 cm (outer shell steps up from size 86 to 88)
If you are between sizes, size down for a race fit or up for longer touring comfort. Arai's race-oriented interior will loosen slightly with wear.

“The only helmet here with five SHARP stars, and the ventilation is genuinely the best of the traditional shells. You pay for it in weight — 1,568 g is a lot after two sessions — and the long-oval interior will not suit every rider.”
— the Inter-Pace crewECE 22.06 and FIM — plus five SHARP stars, rare here.
Double-D, emergency release, hand-laid PB-SNC2 shell.
Reviewers call the airflow the strongest thing about it.
Smooth shell, no snag points — Arai's long-standing rule.
1,568 g — the heaviest carbon-free shell in this field.
100 dB at 130 km/h, quiet for how heavily vented it is.
Peel-away padding lets you shape the fit over time.
Long-oval only — it does not suit every head.
The traditionalist's race helmet, still hand-made.
