DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Dainese Torque 4 represents the evolution of race-proven ankle protection, built to satisfy the strictest safety standards while delivering genuine comfort on both track and road. Certified to CE Category II under EN 13634, this black and red boot is engineered for riders who refuse to compromise on protection — whether they are threading through a technical circuit or commuting on fast roads.
Key Features
- CE Category II certification to EN 13634 — the highest protection class available for motorcycle boots, validated for serious racing and road use
- D-Axial system in TPU shields the foot and ankle against torsional forces and dangerous twisting impacts
- Replaceable magnesium sliders at the toe and heel absorb and disperse impact energy, extending the boot's protective life after a crash
- Shock-absorbing insert beneath the shin guard reduces peak load on impact
- Asymmetric Groundtrax® sole delivers dedicated grip and heat resistance in both the braking and gear-change zones
- Double Jersey Airgap lining regulates temperature on extended rides and warm track days
- TPU gear-change guard resists wear from repeated shifting without compromising feel
Protection Architecture
The Torque 4 was developed as a direct successor to the Axial 2, inheriting and refining its core safety philosophy. The D-Axial system — moulded from TPU — wraps the ankle to prevent the kind of torsional injury that conventional boots simply cannot address at race pace. The removable magnesium heel cap adds another dimension of impact management, and because it is designed to be swapped out, a single crash does not have to retire the boot. Magnesium inserts on the outer side and heel further promote controlled sliding rather than violent deceleration during a fall.
Beneath the shin guard, a dedicated shock absorber handles frontal impact loads, completing a protection system that covers the foot from every direction an accident might come from. The part number for this colourway is 201790008562800.
Construction and Materials
The upper is constructed from microfibre reinforced with D-Stone™ fabric — a combination chosen for its resistance to abrasion and tearing while keeping overall weight to a minimum. This is not decorative engineering; both materials are there because they survive the conditions a racing or high-performance road boot genuinely encounters. The internal architecture includes flexible articulated joints at the ankle that maintain freedom of movement without sacrificing structural integrity, so the boot bends naturally with the rider rather than working against them.
A rear zip simplifies putting the boots on and taking them off, while a quick-lace system allows precise fit adjustment across the range of available sizes — 38 through 48 — accommodating a wide spread of foot shapes without relying on a single closure mechanism.
Groundtrax® Sole and Thermal Performance
The asymmetric Groundtrax® sole is purpose-designed for motorcycle use, with distinct zones optimised for the braking area and for the gear-change area. Heat resistance is built into the compound, making it suitable for track surfaces that absorb and radiate significant thermal energy during extended sessions. The Double Jersey Airgap lining works in concert with the sole's properties to manage internal boot temperature, reducing heat build-up on long summer rides.
Replaceable Slider System
One of the Torque 4's most practically valuable features is the replaceable slider programme. The magnesium sliders at the toe and heel are user-swappable, meaning a worn or damaged slider does not end the boot's service life. Three replacement kit options are available:
- 1999948 — Kit Stiefel Magnesium (magnesium slider kit)
- 1999885 — Edelstahl Stiefel Slider Kit (stainless steel slider kit)
- 1999954 — Kit Stiefel Slider Kunststoff 16 (plastic slider kit 16)
