DescriptionThe whole story

Please note: sale to France is prohibited.

Blast is the second graphic family and takes the opposite approach to Abiding: where Abiding is flat and geometric, Blast is a bolder device with more movement in it. TC-1 is its red, and the most assertive helmet in the range.

Five SHARP stars — and which Glamster earned them

🔵 One caveat that applies to every SHARP rating, including this one. The stars describe the helmet, not the fit — a five-star helmet that is loose on your head will not perform as it did in the laboratory, because it moves.

With that said, the Glamster06's result is as good as the programme gives: five stars out of five, tested May 2025 to ECE 22.06.

About the Blast TC-1 graphic

Two graphic families exist on this helmet because they are aimed at different riders, and it is worth understanding the difference before choosing. Abiding is a period drawing — the sort of thing a paint shop could have masked and sprayed in 1975. Blast is not pretending to be; it is a contemporary graphic applied to a classic shell, and the tension between the two is deliberate. On a modern naked or a café-styled machine it works considerably better than a strictly period decor. In red it is the loudest version of that idea. Conspicuity is strong, UV fade is the usual red weakness, and the graphic premium is 100 € over a solid. 🔵 As with every decor, a deep scratch through the print cannot be touched in the way a solid can.

AIM, three shells, double-D and EQRS

If you have not used a double-D ring before, practise it once at home rather than for the first time in a car park. Thread, pull, tuck the loose end into the popper. Ten seconds, identical tension every time — and a strap that is even slightly loose is a strap that lets the helmet move.

The rest of the structure: AIM composite shell in three sizes, multi-density EPS, EQRS cheek pad release.

The CPB-1V visor — and the sun shield that is not there

Visor changes are tool-free and quick, which matters on this helmet because there is no sun shield to fall back on — adapting to light means changing the visor. The redesigned mechanism on the 06 makes that a genuinely one-minute job rather than a fight.

Tints available include the photochromic self-darkening version. 🔵 The supplied Pinlock EVO lens is replaced with DKS056 when it eventually clouds.

One intake, aluminium mesh, no sliders

In warm weather the honest summary is that the Glamster06 is comfortable rather than cool. It moves enough air to stop the interior becoming saturated on a long summer ride, and it will not feel like the sport-touring helmets that have four times the vent area.

The system is one forehead intake without intermediate steps, two fixed chin intakes behind aluminium mesh, and an exhaust at the neck.

Interior, fit and glasses

Comfort on a full-face is decided at the cheeks, because that is where the pressure sits and where a badly sized helmet makes itself known within half an hour. Shoei's cheek pads come in several thicknesses precisely so that this can be corrected without changing helmet size.

MCN's long-term test rated the Glamster06 5 out of 5 for comfort, which is the top mark and rare on a compact shell.

How loud it actually is

The compact shell helps and hinders in roughly equal measure. A smaller frontal area means less turbulence generated in the first place; the absence of a deep neck roll means less of it is blocked from reaching your ears. On balance MCN put it at 4 out of 5.

The chin curtain supplied in the box is the single most effective thing you can do about it.

Around 1300 grams, and the rest of the honest list

Cold weather is the Glamster06's real limitation rather than noise or weight. The chin intakes do not close, so a genuinely cold ride depends on the supplied chin curtain and a decent neck tube.

🔵 Alongside that: no sun visor, and no intercom compatibility — no interface, no cable routing and no speaker recesses in the padding.

Where it sits in Shoei's range

If your riding is genuinely long-distance, look hard at the GT-Air3 before committing. Sun visor, communication routing, more ventilation and a quieter shell make a real difference over four hours, and the Glamster06 gives up all four.

For town, weekends, classic machinery and anything under two hours, this is the more enjoyable helmet by a distance.

When something wears out

🔵 A word on visor care, because it prevents most of the visor sales we make. Never wipe a dry visor — road dust is abrasive and dragging it across the surface leaves permanent fine scratches that flare against headlights at night. Wet it first, every time.

The silicone oil supplied in the box is for the seal and mechanism; use it, and both last far longer.

“The retro full-face done properly: vintage silhouette, modern homologation, five SHARP stars and a visor seal that keeps it quiet. It loses ground here only to open-face helmets, which fit the café racer brief more literally.”
