DescriptionThe whole story▼
Please note: sale to France is prohibited.
TC-10 is the monochrome Abiding — grey worked against silver, no colour anywhere. It is the graphic for riders who want the drawing without the announcement, and the only decor here that will still look current in a decade.
Five SHARP stars — and which Glamster earned them
What SHARP measures and the ECE mark certifies are different things, and both are worth having. The ECE 22.06 approval is a pass or fail against the current European schedule; the SHARP rating is a comparative measure of how much better than that minimum a helmet performs.
The Glamster06 passes the first and scores the maximum on the second, tested May 2025 at 1.3 kg.
About the Abiding TC-10 graphic
Monochrome is the graphic that ages best, and the reason is straightforward: colours date, values do not. A grey-and-silver treatment carries no reference to a particular season's palette, so it stays legible as design rather than becoming a marker of when the helmet was bought. On this shell it also does something the coloured versions cannot — because nothing competes for attention, the shape itself stays the main event, which on a helmet whose whole appeal is its silhouette is the right priority. 🔵 The trade-offs are the usual graphic ones. It is 100 € over a solid, a stone chip through a printed layer cannot be touched in, and conspicuity is mid-range at best — better than the matt black, well short of the TC-3.
AIM, three shells, double-D and EQRS
Two components do the protective work and they do different jobs. The AIM shell spreads the load and resists penetration; the polystyrene liner underneath absorbs energy by permanently crushing. Shoei assembles that liner from elements of different density so the crushing happens where it is most useful.
🔵 A crushed liner does not recover. A helmet that has taken a real impact is finished, whatever it looks like from outside.
The CPB-1V visor — and the sun shield that is not there
🔵 A note on tinted visors and the law. A dark visor is not road-legal at night or in poor visibility in most European countries, and the rules differ between them. Fit one for what it is — a daylight item — and observe the homologation marking on the visor itself.
The helmet ships with a clear CPB-1V and a Pinlock EVO anti-fog lens; the photochromic version is the compliant way to have one visor for both.
One intake, aluminium mesh, no sliders
Look at where the vents are not. There is no crown scoop, no rear spoiler with integrated exhausts, no adjustable side channels — all of which are standard on modern full-face helmets and all of which would have made this one look like every other helmet on the shelf.
What is there: one forehead intake, two aluminium-mesh chin intakes, one neck exhaust. MCN rated the airflow 4/5.
Interior, fit and glasses
The head shape is intermediate oval — slightly longer front to back than side to side, which describes most European heads. It is the most common shape in helmet design and the reason the Glamster06 fits a wide range of riders without adjustment.
Where it does not, the interior is fully removable and available in several pad thicknesses, and a Shoei dealer can shim it further.
How loud it actually is
Two riders will describe the same helmet completely differently, and neither will be wrong. Height, riding position, screen, and how much of the airflow reaches your shoulders all change the result more than the shell does.
MCN's long-term rating of 4 out of 5 for the Glamster06 is a useful reference point rather than a promise — fit the supplied chin curtain, and try the helmet on your own bike.
Around 1300 grams, and the rest of the honest list
The weight figure is worth putting in context because SHARP measured it independently: 1.3 kg on the helmet they bought and destroyed. Light helmets often score worse in their testing, because there is less material to absorb energy. This one scored the maximum.
🔵 What it does not have: sun visor, communication provision, speaker recesses or adjustable chin vents.
Where it sits in Shoei's range
The X-SPR PRO at the top of the range is worth mentioning as a contrast rather than an alternative. It is a racing helmet: stiffer, louder, aggressively shaped for a tucked riding position, and uncomfortable upright. The Glamster06 is the opposite brief in every respect.
🔵 Both hold five SHARP stars, which is a useful reminder that rating and purpose are separate questions.

When something wears out
Genuine parts matter more on a helmet than on most things, because the visor, the padding and the retention system are all part of what was certified and what SHARP tested. A pattern visor with different optical properties is not the helmet that earned five stars.
Everything we stock for the Glamster06 is Shoei's own: CPB-1V visors, DKS056 Pinlock lenses, padding and chin curtains.

Rated. Certified. Lit.
“The retro full-face done properly: vintage silhouette, modern homologation, five SHARP stars and a visor seal that keeps it quiet. It loses ground here only to open-face helmets, which fit the café racer brief more literally.”
— the Inter-Pace crewECE 22.06.
Five SHARP stars and four shell sizes on a retro shell.
A genuine vintage look with none of the vintage compromises.
Comfortable, with a rubber seal around the visor aperture.
1,300 g — light.
The weak point: the chin vents are always open and only demist.
Very quiet for a retro shell, though the wide neck lets some in.
Five SHARP stars in a retro helmet has no rival.
469 € — Mid-range. Hover the bar for each range. Value is scored against the café racer field, not in the abstract.
