DescriptionThe whole story

Green with camel trim is the most distinctive finish Nexx offers on this helmet and the only green in the range. It is also the pairing that most obviously belongs to a classic scooter or a small retro motorcycle.

What an open-face helmet does and does not do

An open-face helmet is worn differently from a full-face — put on and taken off several times a journey rather than once — and that convenience is most of why people buy one for city use.

🔵 The trade is the chin. ECE 22-06's jet category has no requirement covering that region, and this helmet has no chin bar.

About the Midtown Green Camel finish

Green and tan is an old combination and a durable one — it belongs to waxed cotton, to leather luggage, and to the machines this helmet is most often worn on. On a jet, where the trim runs around the whole face opening in full view, that pairing does more design work than the shell colour alone ever could. It is also a genuinely uncommon choice, which on a helmet used daily in a city is worth something. 🔵 A mid-dark green hides road film reasonably well; the camel trim, in constant contact with your face, is the part that will show wear first.

Polyfusion, two shells and three approvals

What you are buying structurally: a compact Polyfusion thermoplastic shell in two outer sizes, a polystyrene impact liner, and three separate market homologations including the current European standard.

🔵 What you are not buying is a composite shell. That is the difference between this and Nexx's X-range, and most of the price difference too.

The sun visor, the peak — and the clear visor that is not there

The shield retracts fully into the shell rather than sitting part-way in your upper field of view, which is the failure mode of badly designed drop-down systems. Deployed, it covers the working field of view; retracted, it disappears.

🔵 It is lightly tinted. There is no clear visor in the box — the helmet comes with a peak instead.

Airflow on an open-face

The peak contributes to comfort in a way that is easy to miss: it shades the brow, which on a hot day in traffic keeps direct sun off the part of the shell closest to your forehead.

🔵 The airflow system beneath it works on the crown, and some versions of the Y.10 carry a two-stage top vent.

Interior, glasses and the buckle

Everything that touches skin on this helmet comes out by hand for washing: the liner, the padding and the strap area. On a helmet worn daily in a city, that matters more than any single comfort feature.

🔵 The retention is a micrometric quick-release buckle, adjustable in fine steps and operable one-handed.

Intercom — and the 45 mm limit

Communication provision on a helmet at this price is not a given, and universal provision is better than proprietary for most buyers. Audio sets up to 45 mm fit the Y.10's recesses.

🔵 No intercom is supplied; the helmet provides the space and the routing.

1325 grams, and the rest of the honest list

The Y.10 is priced between 119 and 144 € depending on the finish, and nothing in the specification changes across that range — shell, sun visor, buckle, liner, peak and approvals are identical from the cheapest to the most expensive.

🔵 You are paying for paint and trim. At 1325 g, all of them weigh the same.

Choosing the right size

Sizing charts are a guide rather than an answer, because heads differ in shape as well as circumference. Use the chart below to narrow it to one or two sizes, then decide by wearing the helmet rather than by the number.

🔵 The Y.10 runs XXS to XXL across two outer shells: XXS–L and XL–XXL.

When something wears out

What makes a helmet last is not the shell, it is whether the parts you touch can be renewed. On the Y.10 the liner, padding, peak and sun visor are all separately available.

🔵 The five-year replacement guidance applies regardless — EPS ages whether the helmet is used or not.

Where it sits in Nexx's range

The Y-range is Nexx's accessible line and the X-range its premium one. The gap is real — composite shells, more shell sizes, Anti-Vibration EPS and integrated comms all belong to the X-range.

🔵 What the Y.10 keeps is the current ECE 22-06 approval, two shell sizes and a drop-down shield.

In the box

“A clean, understated jet with a proper drop-down sun visor and a wide adjustable shield, at 1,225 g. It has less presence than the Shoei J.O2 but costs a third as much and is easier to live with day to day.”
