DescriptionThe whole story▼
Globe is the graphic family on the fibreglass shell, and black with red is its most conventional reading — and the best of the three at hiding a long motorway day.
Three SHARP stars — and the 50 % you should know about
🔵 Three stars is not five, and we are not going to present it as more than it is. SHARP's scale runs to five and the X.LIFETOUR sits in the middle — better than the bottom of the market, well short of the flip-ups from Shoei and Schuberth that reach the top band.
Tested April 2026 to ECE 22.06, at 1.8 kg, with the face guard locked in 50 % of impacts.
About the Globe Black Red graphic
Red against a black ground is the pairing that survives dirt best in this range: insect strike and road film read as a haze on pale grounds and largely disappear on dark ones, so this version still looks presentable after a week of distance. Red is also a high-saturation colour that holds up well against grey tarmac, which puts it among the more conspicuous options here without going fluorescent. 🔵 Red pigment fades faster than most under sustained ultraviolet, and a helmet left strapped to a bike through a summer will lose depth. A printed graphic also cannot be touched in after a stone strike.
P/J homologation and the Super Locker chin bar
Flip-up convenience is the whole reason to buy this type of helmet: open it at the lights, at a fuel stop, at a border, and close it for the miles. On a touring helmet worn for eight hours that is worth more than any single specification.
🔵 The X.LIFETOUR is P/J homologated, so riding it open is legal as well as possible.
The X-Matrix2 shell
🔵 Two outer shell sizes rather than three is the main structural economy in this helmet, and it shows at the size boundaries — a helmet at the top of the smaller shell carries thinner padding than one at the bottom of the larger.
Try the size the chart gives you rather than ordering by measurement alone. The shell is X-Matrix2 composite at around 1800 g ±50.
96 decibels — the Silent Travel Seal
Most perceived helmet noise enters from below the chin bar rather than around the visor, which is why the anti-noise neck roll and the removable wind deflector matter as much as the seals do.
🔵 With all of it in place, an independent test measured 96 dB and scored noise 5/5 — class-leading.
X-Sensus Vision, X-SWIFT and two visors
The internal drop-down sun visor is what makes this a genuinely all-day helmet rather than a fair-weather one — deploy it climbing into the sun, retract it in a tunnel, and never stop to change anything.
🔵 The outer visor stays clear and Pinlock-equipped, which is the correct combination for year-round touring.
Two closable intakes and two air chambers
Closable intakes are the specification that makes this a year-round touring helmet. A helmet that ventilates permanently is unpleasant in a northern winter, and a great many are exactly that.
🔵 Both intakes shut completely. On a flip-up you also have the option of simply opening the chin bar in traffic.
Morpho-Fit interior and F.R.S.
Retention is a metal micrometric ratchet rather than a plastic one, which on a touring helmet fastened twice a day for years is a durability decision. Every closure component on this helmet is stainless steel or special aluminium.
🔵 Check the ratchet adjustment every few months; it should be snug enough that the helmet cannot be rolled forward off your head.
Around 1.8 kilograms, and the rest of the honest list
🔵 Weight matters most at the end of a long day and least in the first ten minutes, which is why it is the specification most often underweighted when buying a touring helmet. At around 1.8 kg the X.LIFETOUR is a comfortable helmet that you will still notice after six hours.
SHARP independently weighed their tested example at exactly 1.8 kg.
Where it sits in Nexx's range
Within the model, the price ladder is mostly paint. The Plain versions and the slightly pricier Globe graphics share the same X-Matrix2 shell; the Pro Mile and Zero Pro versions add a carbon shell at a higher price.
🔵 The carbon saves 50 g on paper — and an independent scale reading came in above both figures.
Comms, cameras and spare parts
Spare parts are worth checking before buying a touring helmet, because you may need one a long way from home. For the X.LIFETOUR, visors, Pinlock 70 lenses, cheek pads, the Morpho-Fit liner, neck roll, chin-strap covers, wind deflector and breath guard are all separately available.
🔵 What cannot be replaced is a crushed EPS liner. After a real impact the helmet is finished.
