Noiré is the only carbon X.G30 and the only one that changes the specification rather than the paint: an aerospace-grade 3K carbon shell at 1220 g, a full 100 g under the composite versions.

A Sixties silhouette on a 2026 shell

Heavily inspired by the classic jets of the Sixties and reworked with current construction — that is Nexx's own description, and it is accurate. The shape is period; the six-layer composite shell, the three shell sizes and the ECE 22-06 approval are not.

About the Noiré Carbon finish

On a jet helmet 100 g is a larger proportional saving than it would be on a full-face, because there is less helmet to begin with — 1220 g is genuinely light for any road-legal helmet. The exposed weave is the other half of what you are paying for: a bare-carbon finish has to be flawless underneath because there is no paint to hide the layup, which is why it costs 80 € over the composite versions. 🔵 The caveat is repairability. A deep scratch through the lacquer into exposed weave is permanent, where a painted shell can be touched in — and a jet gets handled constantly.

The aerospace-grade 3K carbon shell

This is the only carbon X.G30. The shell is aerospace-grade 3K carbon fibre at a claimed 1220 g — a full 100 g under the six-layer X-Matrix2 composite versions.

🔵 Three outer shell sizes and four market approvals are common to both: ECE 22-06, DOT FMVSS 218, CCC GB811:2022 and NBR7471:2015.

What an open-face helmet does and does not do

🔵 Two things are true at once and both belong here. The X.G30 is one of the best-built retro jets available, with a six-layer composite shell and a current approval. And it offers no chin or jaw protection whatsoever.

Buy it for town, classic bikes and short journeys. For anything faster, a full-face is the right tool.

The dark sun visor — and the clear one that is not there

The shield retracts fully into the shell rather than sitting part-way in your upper field of view, which is the failure mode of badly designed drop-down systems. Deployed it covers the working field of view; retracted it disappears.

🔵 It is dark-tinted. The clear external visor is an accessory, not part of the box.

Interior, X-Mart Dry and the Ergo Padding System

🔵 A retro helmet with a modern interior is the right combination, and it is where most classic-styled helmets economise. The X.G30 does not: X-Mart Dry throughout, anti-allergic, sweat-wicking, fully removable, with two complete replacement linings available.

The Ergo Padding System covers fine fit adjustment.

The double-D ring

🔵 The double-D ring is the correct closure for this helmet and the one point where it asks something of the rider. Ten seconds at every stop, and a tension you set yourself rather than inherit from a mechanism.

It is used across the whole X.Garage collection, and the chin-strap covers come off for washing.

1220 grams, and the rest of the honest list

🔵 The honest list, carbon version. At 1220 g this is the lightest helmet Nexx makes — but it still has no intercom provision, no Pinlock compatibility, no clear visor in the box and no independent safety rating.

Exposed weave also cannot be touched in if scratched, and a jet is handled constantly. Those are the trades for 100 g and a bare-carbon finish.

Where it sits in Nexx's range

The clearest way to place this helmet: it is a properly engineered modern helmet wearing a Sixties shape, rather than a period helmet updated. Everything structural is current; everything visible is not.

🔵 The absences — comms, Pinlock, clear visor — are part of that decision rather than economies.

Accessories and spare parts

🔵 If you intend to ride this helmet year-round, budget for the clear external visor at the same time. The supplied dark shield is a daylight item, and a jet without any screen is unpleasant in rain and unusable in cold.
