DescriptionThe whole story▼
Red against exposed weave is the most traditional of the Zero Pro finishes and the one that reads most clearly as a performance part. It is also the most conspicuous of the four in traffic.
A streetfighter shell with a spoiler that works
Two things separate this from a conventional sport-touring full-face: the shell shape, which is genuinely aerodynamic rather than merely styled, and the Anti-Vibration EPS underneath it. Both are aimed at the same thing — head stability at speed.
🔵 Approvals are ECE 22-06, DOT, CCC and NBR; there is no SHARP rating.
About the Zero Pro Carbon Red finish
Of the four Zero Pro accents, red is the one that does most for visibility — carbon reads as very dark grey in flat light, and a saturated red accent is the difference between a helmet a driver registers and one they do not. On a helmet used in city traffic that is a functional argument rather than a styling one. The pairing is also long-established enough not to date. 🔵 Red pigment fades faster than most under sustained UV, which on a helmet where the accent is the only colour will be visible sooner than it would on a fully painted shell. And exposed weave cannot be touched in if scratched.
The X-PRO Carbon 3K shell
The carbon and composite X.WST3 are the same helmet with different shells. Anti-Vibration EPS, rear spoiler, Recoil visor, internal sun visor, F.R.S., micrometric ratchet and X-COM3 provision are common to both.
Only the shell and 75 g change. This one is X-PRO Carbon 3K at 1600 g, with an X-Foam chin bumper.
| Shell | Construction | Weight | Decors |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-Matrix2 | multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite | 1675 g claimed — 1673 g measured (size M) | Plain, B-Side |
| X-PRO Carbon 3K | 3K carbon fibre | 1600 g claimed | Manga, Zero Pro, Hadal, Lava |
Anti-Vibration EPS — two shells and a rubber layer
The inner EPS floats on a rubber layer rather than being bonded to the outer shell. That is the whole idea, and it is why this helmet feels different at speed from a conventional road full-face.
It is also part of why it weighs 1600–1675 g: two shells and an interlayer are heavier than one moulding.
Recoil visor, sun visor and the spare in the bag
Visor changes are tool-free and quick, which matters here because you have two visors to rotate between. The Recoil base plates re-tension automatically each time; there is no adjustment to get wrong.
🔵 The internal sun visor stays in place through all of it — it sits behind the outer visor rather than being part of it.
Six intakes, two chambers — and a 4/5 measurement
🔵 Ventilation and noise usually pull against each other — openings that let air in also let sound in. The X.WST3 scored 4/5 on both in the same independent test, which is an unusual result and suggests the intake shaping is doing real work.
The system is six intakes, two exhausts, cheek-pad ventilation and two internal air chambers.
How quiet it actually is
The Anti-Vibration EPS contributes here too, though indirectly. It does not reduce sound, but it damps the shell vibration that accompanies turbulence — and riders consistently perceive a vibrating helmet as louder than a steady one.
🔵 The measured result was 100 dB, scored 4 out of 5.
Interior, retention and fit
The interior materials are chosen for appearance as much as function, which on a helmet sold on design is defensible: faux leather where it is seen, ventilation mesh where air passes, dark reflective inserts, and visible stitching throughout.
Behind the styling, X-Mart Dry handles moisture and comes out entirely for washing.
1600 grams, and the rest of the honest list
🔵 No independent safety rating exists for this helmet in either shell. SHARP has no entry for the X.WST3; there is no ADAC or Snell result. Untested rather than poorly rated, but a gap in the evidence all the same.
Measured: overall 3.9/5, noise 100 dB at 4/5, ventilation 4/5, comfort 4/5, weight 2/5. Carbon shell: 1600 g.
Comms, camera and spare parts
Two accessories are designed into this shell rather than bolted to it: the X-COM3 comms system and the side action-camera mount. Both are separate purchases; the provision for both is built in.
🔵 Night-vision reflectors are moulded into the shell as standard.

“The carbon X.WST3 takes 125 g out of an already good sport-touring helmet — a fair exchange, unlike the X.TR where carbon adds weight. Same venting, same quietness, same wide size range.”
