DescriptionThe whole story▼
Plain Black is the cheapest X.WST3 and the one that lets the design speak without a graphic arguing with it. On a helmet this aggressively shaped, that is a defensible choice rather than a budget one.
A streetfighter shell with a spoiler that works
Streetfighter is a design language rather than a helmet category, and this is one of the few helmets that treats it as engineering as well. The rear spoiler works, the vent housings are where the airflow needs them, and the aperture line follows the sight line rather than a sketch.
🔵 It is a road helmet, built for city, country and motorway riding — nothing about it is aimed off tarmac.
About the gloss black finish
The X.WST3's shell carries more visible structure than most road helmets — a functional rear spoiler, prominent intake housings, a hard-edged aperture — and gloss black reads all of it as one continuous surface with highlights running along the edges. That is a genuinely different effect from matt, which flattens the same shape. Black is also the finish that suits a naked bike best, because nothing on the helmet competes with the machine. 🔵 It is the least conspicuous version here, and city riding is exactly where conspicuity earns its keep. Gloss black also shows road film against dark clear coat at maximum contrast — wash it wet, never dry-wipe it.
The X-Matrix2 shell
X-Matrix2 is Nexx's multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite rather than plain glass, and it is the construction the majority of this range uses. Three outer shell sizes — XXS–S, M–L and XL–XXXL — keep the volume honest across eight helmet sizes.
The chin area carries an X-Foam EPP bumper, and the whole shell is built at Nexx's factory in Portugal.
| Shell | Construction | Weight | Decors |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-Matrix2 | multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite | 1675 g claimed — 1673 g measured (size M) | Plain, B-Side |
| X-PRO Carbon 3K | 3K carbon fibre | 1600 g claimed | Manga, Zero Pro, Hadal, Lava |
Anti-Vibration EPS — two shells and a rubber layer
🔵 This matters more on a fast road helmet than it would elsewhere. At 130 km/h the air arriving at a shell is turbulent, and the fine shimmer it produces degrades your vision of the road surface before it tires you.
The rubber layer between the inner and outer EPS is Nexx's answer — the inner shell moves fractionally rather than transmitting everything.
Recoil visor, sun visor and the spare in the bag
🔵 The Pinlock code for this helmet is DKS553. It is specific to the X.WST3's visor and does not interchange with the lenses used on Nexx's adventure helmets — worth writing down before you need a replacement in a hurry.
One is fitted from the factory. A second clear visor and a visor bag are supplied alongside it.
Six intakes, two chambers — and a 4/5 measurement
🔵 The number that matters: independent testing scored this helmet's ventilation 4/5. That is a measured result rather than a brochure claim, and it is notably better than Nexx's adventure helmets managed in the same reviewer's tests.
The system is six intakes, two exhausts, cheek-pad ventilation and the Mid Airflow Chamber between the EPS shells.
How quiet it actually is
🔵 100 dB and 4/5 is quiet for a streetfighter helmet, and it is worth understanding why. Aggressive shapes usually generate turbulence; here the rear spoiler manages the wake deliberately rather than existing as styling, and the Recoil visor seals against a double lip rather than a single one.
Both are engineering decisions with a measurable outcome.
Interior, retention and fit
🔵 Fit was independently found intermediate-to-round oval and explicitly glasses-friendly, with comfort scored 4/5. That head-shape note is worth reading: it is rounder than most premium helmets, which suits riders that long-oval shells pinch.
The liner is X-Mart Dry with an alveolar-mesh crown pad, fully removable.
1675 grams claimed, 1673 measured
🔵 The honest list. This is a heavy helmet — 1675 g claimed, 1673 g measured, and scored 2/5 for weight in independent testing. No SHARP rating exists, and there is no ADAC or Snell result.
Against that: noise 4/5, ventilation 4/5, comfort 4/5, overall 3.9/5, and MCN 4/5.
Comms, camera and spare parts
🔵 „Integrated" here means what it says: there are cable slots, a battery recess and a microphone position built into the shell. A clamped-on unit is what gets caught and knocked; an integrated one is not.
The X-COM3 comes in Standard and PRO forms, the PRO with 2.0 Mesh and Harman Kardon audio. Bluetooth 5.2 in both.
