DescriptionThe whole story▼
Shiever is where the carbon Spartan RS moves from bare-weave minimalism into an actual graphic: an anthracite-grey pattern racing diagonally across a visible-carbon base, with the SHARK wordmark picked out in red along the lower shell and a red accent panel by the chin bar. Shark's own manufacturer product pages document this exact decor twice, with an identical spec set, which is a level of documentation the un-photographed decors later in this line do not have. Against the plainer Carbon Skin decors earlier in this line, Shiever is aimed at a rider who wants the carbon weave visible but framed by an actual graphic rather than left bare.
The gloss finish
A glossy clear coat sits over both the carbon weave and the printed graphic, giving the diagonal grey pattern a crisp, reflective edge and letting the carbon texture itself remain visible where the graphic doesn't cover it. The trade-off of any gloss coat is that it shows cleaning swirl marks more readily than a matte finish would.
About the Shiever name
Shiever is offered in two finishes in this line — this glossy Anthracite Red version and a matte Anthracite Silver version documented separately below — a pairing pattern Shark repeats across several 2027 Spartan RS Carbon graphics rather than committing each design to a single finish. Shark documents this exact article (HE8161EDAR) on its own dedicated product page, independent of the general Spartan RS Carbon collection listing, which is why the spec figures quoted through this text can be traced to that page directly rather than inferred from a family-wide spec sheet.
What ECE 22.06 actually tests
Shiever is certified to ECE 22.06, the EU's mandatory standard for newly homologated helmets since January 2024, considerably tougher than the 22.05 standard it replaced: eighteen impact points instead of five, several test speeds instead of one, a new oblique-impact test against a rough anvil that twists the shell, and a first-time rotational Brain Injury Criterion score. The complete helmet, visor and Pinlock fitted, is what gets tested — the Norme code reads 2206, road-only, no FIM suffix.
What the carbon shell changes, and what it doesn't
Shiever's shell is carbon, and Shark's own product page states 1455 g for the first shell size — a figure repeated identically on the Zarco Suzuka replica page later in this line, not a one-off claim. Against the fibre Spartan RS, the certification, Double-D closure, multi-density EPS and VZ300 visor are unchanged; carbon buys a lighter weight and a different weave texture, not extra protection.
Weight as neck load, not a spec-sheet line
Shark's own figure is 1455 g for the first shell size, and an independent carbon-specific test unit weighed 1485 g, calling the saving over the fibre shell modest rather than transformative. Either number sits on the neck continuously through braking, leaning and head-checks across a ride — the running-total way of reading a weight spec matters more than the isolated gram count.
Ventilation
Independent testing scored the carbon shell's ventilation 3.0 out of 5: the chin vent works well specifically when leaning forward, less so in genuinely hot weather, while the top vent is rated adequate rather than exceptional. This applies to the carbon shell construction shared across this whole line, Shiever included.
Sun visor and outer visor
A drop-down sun visor with incremental positioning is standard, and independent testers praise the outer visor's seal against rain. The outer VZ300 visor is optical class 1, 2.8 mm to 2.2 mm thick, four-point anchored, centrally locked, anti-scratch coated, with a clear Pinlock 120 insert pre-fitted from the factory.
What ships in the box
Shark's own Shiever product pages list a helmet bag, reflective bands and the Pinlock 120 Max Vision insert as included, alongside a 5-year warranty. The outer visor is tool-free to remove, and the removable chin flap can come off for a cleaner look or more airflow.
Intercom compatibility
The shell carries a cheek-pad recess for Shark's Sharktooth intercom or a SENA For SHARK unit, mounting flush rather than externally — confirmed directly on Shiever's own product page alongside the rest of the spec sheet.
Fit and sizing
Six sizes span two shell sizes, XS to XXL, the same split as the fibre Spartan RS, with head-circumference figures published directly on the product page (53/54 cm for XS through 63 cm for XXL). The carbon-specific brushed-suede Alveotech interior, praised by independent testers as luxurious, plus a tight wind-isolating neck roll, are shared across this carbon line.
Wind noise, honestly
No manufacturer decibel figure is published. Independent testing of the carbon shell scored noise 4.0 out of 5, noting 'slight buffeting sound' at motorway speed and good in-town ambient awareness — a review score, not a lab measurement, reported here as given.
Spare parts
The VZ300 visor fitted to Shiever is shared with the Spartan RS Fibre and the Spartan GT Pro Carbon and covered by Shark's standing spare-visor listing, so tint and clear replacements stay available for as long as any of those three current lines are sold.
Where this sits in Shark's own range
This decor is priced at 459.99 EUR before any storewide discount. Set against Shark's own current 2027 lineup rather than a competitor's:
| Line | UVP range | Shell |
|---|---|---|
| Spartan RS Fibre | 359.99 - 389.99 EUR | Multiaxial composite fibre |
| OXO | 349.99 - 459.99 EUR | Thermoplastic modular |
| Spartan RS Carbon (this decor: 459.99 EUR) | 429.99 - 529.99 EUR | Carbon, VZ300 visor shared with Fibre |
| Spartan GT Pro | 499.99 EUR | Thermoplastic |
| Spartan GT Pro Carbon | 549.99 - 629.99 EUR | Carbon, also shares the VZ300 visor |
Limitations, honestly
At the time of the independent carbon review used for this listing, all sizes of a comparable Shiever colourway showed as sold out, a stock limitation worth checking before ordering rather than a design flaw. The 3.0-out-of-5 ventilation score and an early test unit's Pinlock-fitting issue apply to the shared carbon shell here as elsewhere, and the SHARK wordmark low on the shell is a fixed part of the graphic, not removable. Note too that this glossy Shiever and its matte sibling below are priced 20 euros apart, another case in this line where the cost gap tracks finish complexity rather than a mechanical difference.
