DescriptionThe whole story▼
Please note: sale to France is prohibited.
TC-2 is the light blue Blast, and it is the softest-reading graphic of the four. Pale blue is an unusual choice on a full-face and one that has aged remarkably well on helmets — it belongs to no particular decade.
Five SHARP stars — and which Glamster earned them
Independent testing is the only way to compare helmets across brands, because the legal standard is a pass mark rather than a scale. SHARP provides that comparison for the UK and European market, and its verdict on this helmet, from May 2025, is five stars of a possible five.
🔵 Do not confuse it with the four-star entry for the earlier Glamster, tested in 2021 against the previous standard.
About the Blast TC-2 graphic
Light blue occupies useful ground between the neutral solids and the shouting ones. It is a genuinely bright value, so it does most of what a white helmet does for conspicuity in dull light, but it is a colour rather than an absence of one — which means it works with a motorcycle instead of disappearing next to it. It is also the version of the Blast graphic where the drawing is easiest to read, because a pale field gives the design more contrast to work against than a dark one does. Practically, pale finishes show dust more and road film less than you expect, and light blue in particular is forgiving of the fine swirls that gloss black shows immediately. 🔵 The graphic premium is 100 € over a solid, and printed layers cannot be touched in.
AIM, three shells, double-D and EQRS
Full ECE 22.06 approval means the whole current schedule, not a subset: impact testing at several energies and points, oblique impact, abrasion, retention strength and visor optics. The Glamster06 meets all of it, which is worth checking on any retro helmet you compare it with.
Behind the mark: an AIM fibreglass composite shell, a multi-density EPS core, a double-D ring and EQRS.
The CPB-1V visor — and the sun shield that is not there
Anti-fog is where a full-face retro helmet is most likely to disappoint, because a compact shell puts the visor closer to your face and there is no sun shield gap to buffer it. Shoei's answer is to include the Pinlock EVO lens rather than sell it separately — it is in the box, with spare pins.
🔵 Order replacements as Pinlock EVO DKS056, the lens made for the CPB-1V visor.
One intake, aluminium mesh, no sliders
The neck exhaust is the part that makes the rest work. Air only flows through a helmet if there is somewhere lower in pressure for it to go, and putting the outlet at the base of the shell rather than in a rear spoiler keeps the silhouette clean while still giving the intakes something to pull against.
Feeding it: a single forehead intake and two chin intakes behind aluminium mesh.
Interior, fit and glasses
Two useful facts about living with this interior. It comes out entirely — head pad, both cheek pads, chin strap covers — and it goes back in without a struggle, which is not true of every helmet. And the pads exist in several thicknesses, so fit is a specification you can change rather than one you inherit.
The base shape is intermediate oval.
How loud it actually is
If you are coming from a touring helmet, expect a difference. Helmets like the Neotec 3 are engineered specifically for quiet and carry the weight and hardware that requires; the Glamster06 is engineered for a silhouette, and its 4/5 noise rating reflects a genuinely good result within that constraint.
The chin curtain is included rather than optional, which is a sign of where Shoei knew the noise would come from.
Around 1300 grams, and the rest of the honest list
🔵 A helmet with no sun visor changes how you ride in a way that is easy to underestimate. Sunset on a westbound road means either a tinted visor you cannot see through afterwards, or squinting. The photochromic CPB-1V solves it properly and is worth budgeting for if you ride at both ends of the day.
The other absences: intercom provision, speaker recesses and adjustable chin ventilation.
Where it sits in Shoei's range
The price ladder below reads as a ladder of intent rather than of quality. Every helmet on it is built to the same manufacturing standard; what changes is what the helmet is for and how much equipment that job requires.
The Glamster06 needs very little equipment, which is why it sits where it does.

When something wears out
The serviceable parts list is short because the helmet is simple: visor, base plates, head pad, two cheek pads, chin strap covers, chin curtain and the Pinlock lens. That is essentially the whole helmet apart from shell and liner.
All of it is stocked, and the cheek and centre pads come in more than one thickness.

“The retro full-face done properly: vintage silhouette, modern homologation, five SHARP stars and a visor seal that keeps it quiet. It loses ground here only to open-face helmets, which fit the café racer brief more literally.”
— the Inter-Pace crewECE 22.06.
Five SHARP stars and four shell sizes on a retro shell.
A genuine vintage look with none of the vintage compromises.
Comfortable, with a rubber seal around the visor aperture.
1,300 g — light.
The weak point: the chin vents are always open and only demist.
Very quiet for a retro shell, though the wide neck lets some in.
Five SHARP stars in a retro helmet has no rival.
469 € — Mid-range. Hover the bar for each range. Value is scored against the café racer field, not in the abstract.
